We are currently in search of a Business Manager for the District Alliance for Safe Housing (DASH). The position is full-time, Hybrid based in Washington, DC. This is a Permanent assignment.

LOCATION: Washington, DC

WORK MODALITY: Hybrid 3-Days in office

POSITION TITLE: Business Manager

DURATION: Full Time

SALARY: $80,000-$85,000

 

Is This Your Dream Job? The Business Manager oversees physical asset management, information technology (IT) management, non-Cornerstone vendor relationships, business compliance, processes and data, and internal customer service related to all areas under their purview.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:


  • 4+ years of related experience, or a combination of professional experience and a degree. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in business administration, information technology, nonprofit management, or related field required, with relevant experience substituting for education.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (Monday.com, Trello, Asana), Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook)
  • Good understanding of IT systems, infrastructure, and emerging technologies with experience administering Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, Zoom, and cloud-based communication
  • Understanding of asset lifecycle management, including procurement, inventory control, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Experience in developing and executing technology strategies, including assessing organizational needs, selecting appropriate technology solutions, and overseeing implementation projects.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques for monitoring and evaluating technology performance, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in providing training and support to staff members on using technology tools effectively and securely, including developing training materials, conducting workshops, and fostering a culture of technology adoption and proficiency.
  • Experience in managing relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts, evaluating vendor performance, conducting vendor assessments, and exploring partnerships to meet organizational needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required as part of the job responsibilities. This includes travel to all DASH offices and other Washington, DC locations during business hours.

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

 

Physical Asset Management (20%)

  • Identifies business requirements for services, materials, and goods. Identifies reliable vendors to meet requirements and engages in accordance with DASH policies and procedures, including DASH’s Delegation of Authority and Procurement Policy.
  • Maintains a compliant process for procurement of office furniture, supplies, and hardware to ensure all employees' needs are met, including a rotational upgrade/replacement plan for computers and peripherals following the annual budget and staff needs.
  • Ensures all procurement follows DASH’s procurement practices and complies with OMB Guidelines.
  • Oversees repairs and maintenance of leased property.
  • Manages relationship and lease renewals for rented office space, in accordance with DASH policies and procedures.

 

Business Compliance (20%)

  • Communicate with and support team members in other departments to understand compliance requirements and build buy-in and alignment with new processes.
  • Prioritizes all business operations functions that are associated with grant compliance.
  • Ensures the Business Operations department meets grant funding requirements and local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintains detailed, orderly records and documentation that are easily accessible.
  • Implements department audit functions as assigned by or agreed with the Director, Operations.
  • Supports the Director, Operations to maintain DASH Inc. and DASH Properties, LLC insurance coverage.

 

Information Technology Management (25%)

  • Creates and annually updates the Technology Plan for DASH.
  • Works in partnership with the Executive team, Director, Operations, and People & Culture to develop and maintain a staff intranet using SharePoint.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with outsourced information technology service providers and a wide range of licensed software service providers, managing the existing service providers and ensuring timely payment.
  • Serves as a “super-admin” for cloud-related services (password vaults, document retention, e-mail, calendaring, messaging apps, etc.).
  • Oversees routine updates to various products and communicates with the organization about issues impacting the functionality of day-to-day software and services.
  • Implements an information technology training program for staff IT usage, including cybersecurity, terms of service for software, use of shared drives, etc.
  • Develops intentionality and customer satisfaction focus on computer hardware and software decisions.

 

Internal Customer Service (15%)

  • Resolves routine employee queries related to purchasing, processes, and administration.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with all employees. Demonstrates a great degree of discretion, flexibility, and cooperation.
  • Supports the creation of guidelines and FAQ documents about business operations and company policies. Performs needs assessments to determine employee’s level of understanding of policies and create action plans to address as a continuous improvement process.
  • Ensures employees are continuously informed.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director, Operations and Operations Administrative Assistant on Business Operations onboarding and offboarding employee equipment processes.

 

Processes and Data (20%)

  • Ensures all business processes are documented and accurate.
  • Develops workflows to automate processes to improve efficiency.
  • Improves vendor management process, including soliciting service contracts and project quotes, evaluating options, and performance management.
  • Vendor management (not DASH Properties / Cornerstone-related). Researches appropriate new vendors, manages requests for proposals (RFPs), evaluates proposals, negotiates contracts, establishes performance metrics and expectations, monitors performance, provides feedback, addresses issues, and maintains documentation.
  • Ensures maintenance of organized and easily accessible records related to business operations according to policy and legal requirements.
  • Evaluates the outcome of projects and creates plans for continuous improvement.
