Sr. Mobile Device Security Engineer

Our client is searching for an engineer who can develop cutting-edge technology to secure mobile devices and keep their customers safe from hacking, data breaches, identity theft, and more. The Senior Mobile Device Security Engineer is responsible for leading and performing hacking efforts via offensive attack simulations as well as improving targeted testing and conducting specific threat intelligence on product security technology. 

This person must be a self-motivated problem solver who is interested in leading teams and taking the initiative when it comes to getting things done. Teams at this company work cross-functionally, share information, and are supportive. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create threat models for mapping and evaluating the threat surface on products and services across handset manufacturers and chipset platforms
  • Develop and maintain security threat profiles for products across vendors
  • Conduct targeted security testing and analysis of threat intelligence activities — including research efforts focused on strengthening security profiles and services — and provide actionable recommendations 
  • Conduct, review, and support technical security engineering analysis based on established threat models of root cause and proposed mitigations from vendors for issues during development, testing, hacking, and research
  • Conduct analysis of the product, services, and attacker tools to identify compromises, then reverse engineer attacker protocols
  • Conduct and support targeted offensive hacking-related attack simulations 
  • Review and assist in specific engagements from security research firms 
  • Assist internal mobile device security teams with mapping, developing, evaluating, and validating product security profiles
  • Create detailed and actionable mobile device security engineering and threat intelligence reports
  • Assist internal mobile device security teams with the development of security-risk assessments and security assurance plans
  • Participant in internal team meetings to discuss product security certification strategy, efforts, and results
  • Support internal Pre-Lab team during face-to-face meetings and calls focused on critical product milestones with handset manufacturers/OEMs 
  • Perform and support training related to team capabilities regarding assurance and offensive based testing of products 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering
  • Over three years in product security
  • Expert in Android programming 
  • Proficient in Java, Python, or C++
  • Over four years of experience in:
  • Embedded/mobile device security engineering and platforms
  • Mobile platform threat intelligence
  • Threat modeling
  • Offensive attack simulations 
  • Ability to reverse engineer and analyze packed and obfuscated code
  • Android and Linux operating systems
