The Safety Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our client’s operations. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs and policies to minimize risks and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.

Roles & Responsibilities

•      Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and industry best practices.

•      Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of equipment, facilities, and operations to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with DOT safety standards.

•      Provide safety training and education to employees, including drivers and operational staff, to promote awareness and understanding of DOT compliance requirements.

•      Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

•      Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance DOT compliance and safety performance.

•      Collaborate with operational teams to implement safety initiatives and promote a culture of safety excellence.

•      Oversee 24-hour repair and fleet maintenance operations to ensure timely and efficient maintenance of vehicles, minimizing downtime and ensuring fleet safety and compliance.

•      Handle claims follow-up and resolution, including coordination with insurance providers and other stakeholders to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of safety-related claims.

•      Stay abreast of DOT regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies to continuously improve safety practices and procedures.

•      Serve as the primary point of contact for DOT regulatory compliance, insurance providers, and other stakeholders on safety-related matters.

Requirements

•      Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Transportation Management, or related field.

•      Previous experience in a safety management role within the trucking or transportation industry.

•      In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements.

•      Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and identify trends.

•      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and engage employees at all levels of the organization.

•      Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

•      Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
