Payroll Specialist


Summary:

This company is currently seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team. As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our dedicated employees. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of payroll processes and regulations.



Responsibilities:

1. Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

2. Oversee updates of employee information to payroll system to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll information.

3. Oversee and maintain union wage rates, classifications, fringe benefit, and deductions in payroll system to ensure accurate payroll and job costing information.

4. Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

5. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and reporting and remittance requirements.

6. Oversee union reporting process to ensure timely reporting and remittance of all funds due.

7. Facilitate audit process by assisting with any documentation or support requests.

8. Work with management to resolve any disputes or discrepancies in earnings, benefits, or deductions.

9. Create weekly and monthly reports for management use in monitoring the Company’s payroll. 

10. Assist with the preparation of appropriate accountability measures to ensure that the payroll process is operating effectively.

11. Work with operations, human resources, accounting, and the CFO to continuously improve our processes and provide accurately and timely information to our operations team.

Requirements:

• Preferable experience in Viewpoint Vista Construction Software

• Knowledge of Construction or union preferred

• The position will be in office five days a week

• AT least 5 years payroll experience in processing (not time entry)

• Equivalent work experience demonstrating related field (i.e. accounting) preferred

• Equivalent work experience demonstrating payroll knowledge level required

• Ability to communicate effectively to all employees regarding payroll issues resolution

• Ability to organize information to avoid missing details

• Ability to work in a high volume area

• Ability to communicate payroll procedures to Branch contacts

• Microsoft Office Software including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Smartsheet

• Knowledge of payroll, employment and income tax laws, regulations and operating guidelines

• Knowledge of pre-tax and post-tax payroll deductions
