Fitter & Welder

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Fitter & Welder to join our team. As a Fitter & Welder, you will be responsible for assembling and welding structural materials according to blueprints and instructions. Your attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and quality of the finished products.

Responsibilities:

      Receive instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders.

      Read and interpret blueprints and plan the fitting operation.

      Direct and assist in handling and spreading of material, assembling material according to detail drawings.

      Place bolts, drift pins, and other fastening devices in proper locations.

      Lay out work lines or fit up jigs for positioning material when necessary.

      Check, square, and scribe all detail connections to ensure accuracy.

      Ensure work conforms to drawings and specifications.

      Clean up material by grinding or chipping.

      Perform burning, tack welding, coping, beveling, and straightening of material.

      Position component parts and tack weld as required.

      Follow applicable welding procedures (AWS, AISC).

      Weld structural materials such as plates, sheets, girders, tanks, etc., with precision and attention to detail.

      Straighten materials using appropriate heat or flame techniques.

      Perform gouging as needed.

      Maintain a clean and organized work area.

      Take and pass welding tests in accordance with AWS D1.1.

      Perform other routine duties as directed by management.

      Adhere to and follow all safety rules and PPE requirements.

 

Requirements:

Education & Training:

      High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent work experience.

      Minimum of 12 months of stable work experience.

      Must pass required weld test and fitter test.

Certificates & Licenses:

      Equipment Knowledge & Skills: Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and welding equipment.

      Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and blueprints.

      Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical abilities, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

      Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Capable of dealing with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

      Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Certification in AWS D1.1 weld test.
