Product Specialist-Pumps - Tucson, AZ

 

Role:

Reporting to the Product Manager-  Pumps division. The Product Specialist fulfills a technical sales and service function that is responsible for application and proposal engineering, technical selling, conducting site services and inspections, and supporting country Key Account Managers (KAMs) to grow the sales of the Pumps product line in hard rock mining US & Mexico in accordance with company policies and procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Business Accountability: The product specialist will have a designated territory; it is her/his responsibility to develop a comprehensive and effective business plan in conjunction with the sales teams within her/his region. The business plan must be aligned with company strategic goals and discussed and approved by management. Regular progress reporting is required to identify risks and opportunities that may affect the expected output.

 

Technical Specification Review: The Product Specialist is responsible for identifying the customers’ needs and reviewing internal and external customer’s technical specifications to both determine the best solution that Company can offer while meeting all requirements and identify those items that deviate from Company’s offering. The Product Specialist is also responsible for working with the Application Engineering and Engineering departments in ensuring the best possible solutions are considered for proposals and contracts while also meeting customer specifications. 

 

Product Selection: After review of technical specifications, it will be the Product Specialist’s responsibility to use the information available in the RFQ (request for quote) package or provided to him by Company KAMs to select the solution or work with the Application Engineering department on the solution that will meet the application and performance expectations of the customer.

 

Proposal Preparation: Once the specifications have been reviewed and the appropriate equipment has been selected, the Product Specialist will be responsible, together with the Application Engineer, to develop and prepare a comprehensive proposal in time to meet the customers expectation. Proposal preparation will include remotely working with product managers, sales and technical support engineers, engineering departments and KAMs regionally to deliver professional technical proposals that will win orders and contribute to the business growth of the Pumps line.

 

Report Preparation: Once site visits/inspections have been completed, the Product Specialist will be responsible for generating a field report for timely delivery either to the customer or to management as needed. Reporting will include sharing information and reports with engineering teams, product managers, and KAMs so that any additional actions that may either increase business or customer relationships can be considered. 

Technical Support:

 

The Product Specialist will also be expected to provide technical support to customers and internal sales personnel, as necessary, to help troubleshoot problems that customers may experience. This role may be required to work remotely with engineering and technical support teams in prioritizing technical support, and site visits/activities when necessary.

 

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

·      Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety management as prescribed for this role in Companys Duty of Care.

·      Comply with all Product Marketing Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs.

·      Keep his/her supervisor, the Global Product Manager, Project Engineering Supervisor, and the Sales Administration Manager aware of any pertinent issues or concerns.

·      Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations, and departmental housekeeping standards, including obtaining and maintaining safety certifications and other mandatory industry requirements. Maintain divisional/departmental standards.

·      Maintain technical competency and remain current in centrifugal pumping technology through site inspections and observations that will enhance Company’s Minerals’ objectives to grow

·      Pumps sales and references.

·      Traveling regularly to visit customer sites, sometimes in remote locations requiring periods away from home is to be expected (approximately up to 50% of time).

 

 

Job Knowledge and Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field is preferred. A comparable technical qualification with relevant practical experience would also be considered. Prior experience working with a Submersible Pumps supplier or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) firms involved in Dewatering Solutions supply is also highly preferred.

 

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write technical reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

 

Being bilingual in English/Spanish is a highly preferred skill for the position but not an exclusion if the individual can successfully perform the essential functions of the role regarding the international coverage.

  

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The position requires strong analytical skills, computer literacy, mechanical aptitude, and organization abilities; good oral and written communication skills; and strong human relations skills.

The ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, customer specifications, and governmental regulations is required. Knowledge of Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Material Science, Minerals Processing, and other general engineering topics is preferred. Experience with process equipment is preferred.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Requires a valid driver’s license.

A valid passport is required.
