Software engineering manager to join our engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of engineers (5 reports)
• Coach engineers in their technical and professional development
• Expand the team as needed, filtering and interviewing candidates
• Help design software and write implementation specifications
• Participate in the software development process (planning, coding, code review, testing, etc.)

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering

• 6+ years software development experience
• 2+ years in technical lead role (i.e. specification authoring, code reviewing, etc.)
• Expert in C/C++, familiarity with C++11
• Experience with web development: CGI, HTML, Javascript, Apache
• Exemplary software engineering best practices (e.g. unit testing, code reviews, design documentation)
• Understanding of the Linux operating system, networking, and toolset
• Experience using git
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Other useful skills/experience:

• Experience developing within large codebases
• Proficient with Javascript
• Understanding of SQL, especially MySQL
• Experience with clustered and/or distributed systems
