CNC Machinist, Vernal, UT

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.  
  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.  
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary. 
  • 2+ Years programming tool paths using CAD/CAM software. 
  • Advanced proficiency in G and M code required.   
  • 3+ Years’ experience working in a machine shop.  
  • Previous experience working with large Okuma and Megabore machines.  
  • Advanced proficiency with inspection tools, such as calipers, micrometer.  
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and disciplined.  
  • Highly organized.
  • Very detail oriented.  
  • Ability to work in Vernal, UT on a daily basis.  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Advanced proficiency with OKUMA MU500 Mill.  
  • Advanced proficiency with OKUMA MULTUS B400 Lathe and OKUMA MULTUS 750 Lathe.  
  • Forklift Operator Certification.  
  • Welding experience. 
  • Previous experience in the oil and gas drilling industry.  
  • Knowledge of client Drilling’s Products.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Use gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Inspect, measure, and gauge completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guide for subsequent machining.
  • Debur and clean finished product/tools.
  • Program tool paths using CAD/CAM software.
  • Assist other CNC Machinist/Programmers with setup and operation of other CNC Machines.
  • Maintain CNC machines by checking filters, coolant, and oil levels and filling or replacing, as needed. As well as cleaning CNC machines, as needed.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Check and edit programs for accuracy and prove out code to ensure proper operation/programming.
  • Perform other duties of a similar or related level and assist with special projects as necessary or assigned.
