As a Data Engineer, you will get an opportunity to closely work with business teams and other application owners, understand the core functionality of banking, credit, risk and finance applications and associated data. You will build data pipelines, tools, and reports that enable analysts, product managers, and business executives.  The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a team environment and be able to work effectively across multiple projects.

 

  • 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Evaluate business requests for new or modified capabilities to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current systems, and computer capabilities.
  • Analyze business requirements into technical requirements for reporting/visualizations, data models, and databases.
  • Review technical specifications derived from technical requirements.
  • Create and review/approve technical design documents and specifications on change requests and assignments within a project while maintaining documentation and abstracts in conformance with standards.
  • Develop reporting for business consumption using a variety of BI tools.
  • Deploy and Validate BI solutions ensuring changes follow appropriate Change and Release Management processes.
  • Design and Build ETL jobs
  • Partnering with business team(s) to understand the business requirements, understand the impact to existing systems and design and implement new data provisioning pipeline process across different domains. 
  • Collaborate with DBA, other developers, testers, project managers to ensure SVB’s data project needs are being met.
  • Multitask effectively across different development projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines
  • Drive architectural plans and implementation for future data storage, reporting, and analytic solutions 
  • Assist development teams with analysis and design for new or existing systems.
  • Provide consultancy to business units for detailed information on data availability, location, lineage, and quality.
  • Perform data analysis, profiling, and quality assessment to ensure the integrity of business data to necessary levels
  • Work with technical leads and architects to implement new standards, new technology, and tactical solutions driving the business strategy forward.
  • Works within the System Development Life Cycle.

 

Job duties:

  • Create and refine data models.
  • Develop new reports and dashboards in OBIEE and Tableau based upon defined request and requirements from stakeholders and maintain a catalog of reports’ use and purpose.
  • Maintain queue of report requests from initiation through to completion, including their detailed requirements
  • Detailed knowledge of databases like Oracle / DB2 / SQL Server, data warehouse concepts and technical architecture, infrastructure components, ETL and reporting/analytic tools and environments 
  • Hands on experience in CI/CD processes, Cloud architecture understanding
  • Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Ruby, Java, etc.) 
  • Hands on experience in Data Quality and Data Governance solutions. 
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.
  • Self-starter and able to pick-up new technologies quickly.
  • Keep other team members and management fully informed of progress, emerging issues, corrective actions, and escalating appropriately as the situation demands
