Audience Editor
The Company seeks a full-time, digital journalist to lead a team focused on advancing its brand, understanding its audience and optimizing content for maximum reach.
This job will challenge you to:
· Manage a team of audience assistants that makes key decisions for the Company homepage, mobile app and social media channels based on brand strategy and audience considerations
· Work with the managing editor to advance strategy, implement best practices, resolve conflict, find solutions and innovate
· Take ownership of our comment platform, leading a team of moderators focused on creating improved experiences
· Help manage daily and future publishing and promotion schedules
· Critically evaluate headlines, image selection and story placement
· Use data and analytics to inform decision making
· Quickly identify news trends on the web and social media
· Communicate the needs of the site and audience to editors and reporters
· Ensure quality control of SEO elements and identify opportunities for reach
· Enhance content with graphics, videos, photos, links and other elements
· Assist in compiling effective newsletters
· Train staff members on digital journalism best practices

· Are able to write compelling web headlines, social media posts and app notifications
· Are immersed in trending and breaking news
· Can think clearly and act decisively in a bustling newsroom environment
· Are a good communicator who is comfortable giving and receiving feedback
· Have a basic understanding of SEO best practices
· Are a competent copy editor
You’re an even better fit if you:
• Have 5-10 years of journalism experience
• Can pivot when strategy and audience needs evolve
• Pay attention to innovation and trends in the news industry
• Receive multiple notifications a day from different news apps
• Are Google Analytics certified
• Know Associated Press style and Utah culture, history and politics
• Consider yourself a continuous learner and someone who can learn from mistakes
