Experienced Logistics Manager to join southern Utah management team.  This is an exciting opportunity for candidates with a knowledge of supply-chain management for a manufacturing environment.  As the Logistics Manager, you will work on-site to oversee purchasing components according to engineering specifications, managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing, processing incoming shipments and inventory on hand, reporting progress in weekly production meetings, and procurement of materials and supplies. You will also be responsible for managing a team of employees.  Your experience managing supplier relationships, purchasing materials, managing inventory, and collaborating with production planners is just what you need to succeed as a Logistics Manager.  Proven technical & leadership experience, and excellent communication skills will help the qualified candidate direct our engaged and efficient logistics team to ensure that material logistics meet the needs of production plans.

 

Daily Responsibilities Include:

Inventory Control and Management – Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans to minimize material carrying costs and achieve company objectives.  Implement inventory controls to monitor inventory levels, ensure optimal stock availability, trigger orders for stock items, and ensure organized and accessible material storage.  Expertise in this field will include implementing a visual Kanban system for raw material inventory, planning material procurement to a production schedule, and implementing a material requirement planning (MRP) system.  Identify, mitigate, and manage risks and opportunities associated with material acquisition

Supplier Management - Foster strong relationships with suppliers and manage supplier performance through regular reporting and evaluations. Identify and evaluate potential vendors and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.  Resolve any issues or disputes related to procurement activities.  Conduct market research and analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and stay updated on industry trends.  Implement and maintain procurement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards.

Team Management – Hire, train, lead and cultivate the 4-6 logistics team, including purchasing, shipping, and receiving associates.  Oversee the timely processing of purchase orders, processing material receiving, and processing of outgoing shipments. Coach, observe, and encourage open communication with team members.  Identify issues affecting productivity, prioritize continuous improvement projects, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.  Proven leadership experience, attention to detail, and excellent communication are required.

Manufacturing Support – Meet weekly with operations, financial, and production managers to report status of production support, logistics performance, and key continuous improvement projects.  Brief production and executive management on the status and issues affecting cost and schedule performance. Oversee the processing engineering bills of materials to create purchase orders for custom projects.  Oversee the processing of finished goods for shipment and arrangement outgoing freight for shipments. 

Continuous Improvement – With the help of your experience with integrated MRP systems, identify software products to upgrade current inventory management, and material procurement systems.  Coach, observe, and encourage open communication with team members.  Identify issues affecting productivity, prioritize continuous improvement projects, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.

Requirements

Proven experience of (3+ years) or supply-chain or logistics management experience.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management

Proven management experience, including handling employee evaluations, pay raise recommendations, and hiring.

Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, guide, and mentor a team.

Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise or QuickBooks Online – Purchasing, Invoicing, Reporting and System Integration with other software products.

Expert-level knowledge of Excel data analysis tools and Pivot Tables.

Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build relationships with external stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision.

Ability to handle time-sensitive data and meet deadlines.

Prior experience with a material requirement planning (MRP) system.

Strong knowledge of logistics processes, including transportation, dispatching, tracking, customer communication, and logistics regulations.

Proficient in using logistics and supply chain management software and ERP systems.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

Prior manufacturing experience.
