Job Title: Mortgage Closer/Funder Team Lead

Location: Calabasas, California


Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Closing Team Lead to help build and oversee the performance, productivity, and quality of a dedicated Closing team. In this role, you will drive team success by improving processes, mentoring staff, and ensuring alignment with the company’s growth objectives. This is a critical position for maintaining operational excellence and delivering exceptional service to our clients. This is a start-up opportunity with a seasoned team of leaders who have built and scaled large companies in the Non-QM mortgage space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development: You will be tasked to build out the internal workflows for all disclosures, docs, and funding.
  • Offshore Team Management: You will be overseeing a team of people both offshore and onshore.
  • Key Loan Products: DSCR, Bank Statement Loans, Business Purpose Loans, Closing in Business Entities
  • Pipeline Management: Oversee individual loan pipelines, ensuring adherence to service standards and financial targets. Review loan files and systems for accuracy, clear closing conditions, and prepare closing packages.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all loans meet federal and state regulations, including but not limited to RESPA, HMDA, and Fair Lending Practices.
  • Documentation: Approve and send final documents to title companies, and coordinate with them on final requirements. Request and review funding conditions from lenders or investors and initiate wire transfers as necessary.
  • Team Coordination: Assign tasks equitably, serve as a backup closer when needed, and act as an escalation point for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Training and Development: Onboard and train new employees, providing ongoing support and development to enhance team performance.
  • Special Projects: Assist with post-closing or insuring issues, corporate initiatives, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Miscellaneous: Perform other related duties as required.


Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.


Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of hands-on loan closing experience in residential mortgages ideally with Non-QM mortgage loan Experience.


Skills and Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of RESPA disclosures and national disclosure and compliance laws
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a commitment to quality customer service.
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office products and mortgage origination systems; knowledge of Encompass is a plus.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and effective time management skills.
