Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with a focus on data automation and integrity. This role requires a systematic and programmatic approach to our data operations, utilizing Python and ANSI SQL to engineer and ensure the quality of data pipelines. Your work will primarily involve coding in Python daily, using Spark and Databricks DLT on the Databricks platform. This position emphasizes the development of robust software rather than the structuring of data architecture, aiming to build and sustain environments that process extensive code volumes with minimal errors and high accuracy.

Professional Experience

- 3-5 years of experience in a data engineering role, with a focus on automation and enhancing data quality using Python and Spark technologies.

- 3-5 years of developing cloud-based data handling systems with tools like Databricks and Fivetran.

- 3-5 years of practical application with cloud data solutions such as Snowflake, AWS, or Azure, following best practices in data management on cloud platforms.

Essential Skills and Competencies

- Proficient in Databricks, capable of processing large-scale streaming and batch data.

- Expertise in Python and ANSI SQL, with the ability to access and integrate data from external sources via HTTP, REST APIs, and other methods.

- Proven ability to innovate and adapt to new technologies and platforms.

- Skilled in designing and executing next-gen data pipelines and optimizing data flow and storage for scalability.

- Capable of creating analytics tools to leverage data for insights into customer behavior, operational efficiency, and other business metrics.

- Collaborative team member, working effectively with Engineering, IT, and Data Services to support data infrastructure.

- Commitment to maintaining high standards of data security and compliance across multiple platforms.

- Ability to design and implement enhancements to internal processes, including automating tasks and refining systems for better performance.

- Experience in project management, with strong organizational skills and the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Demonstrated analytical skills to tackle complex problems and drive improvements based on a detailed understanding of the business needs and data analysis.

Additional Desirable Qualities

- Broad experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including optimization and administration.

- Experience in constructing and refining cloud-based data warehouses and managing AWS infrastructure.

- Strong communication skills, with the capacity to articulate technical concepts clearly and persuasively.

Educational Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field, or substantial equivalent professional experience. Degrees in fields with considerable programming coursework such as Electrical Engineering, Economics, or Statistics are also acceptable.

Preferred: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field that involves extensive programming.
