Overview:

The Director, Financial Systems Applications is in charge of guiding the financial systems and applications team through the design, execution, and maintenance phases. This role involves developing and applying technical know-how, systems management, data analytics, and process-driven skills. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deploy and sustain solutions, and the person will be accountable for both the immediate and mid-term strategic goals and operational directions of the department. Additionally, this role involves working with executive leadership in finance and accounting to devise and implement strategic, technical, and procedural solutions. Effective communication and influence over executive leadership and other stakeholders are essential.


Key Responsibilities:

- Daily Operations & Team Management**: Oversee daily departmental goals, track team performance, and implement corrective actions as needed. Provide training for IT staff and business users, ensuring continuous development.

- Leadership & Guidance**: Lead the team in managing, maintaining, and updating assigned application platforms and business verticals. Oversee the selection, enhancement, training, upgrades, and core components of ERP and other financial systems software.

- Collaboration & Coordination**: Plan and work closely with internal IT personnel, business units, system vendors, and staff to ensure smooth system changes and upgrades. Validate that modifications and upgrades are tested successfully before live implementation.

- Stakeholder Management**: Maintain relationships with executives and key stakeholders across business units to support initiatives and handle complex escalations. Manage vendor and internal relationships for both projects and day-to-day operations of applications.

- Project Management**: Oversee project resources, funding, and schedules to align with business needs. Determine modification, upgrade, and testing schedules for financial applications and analysis.

- Cross-functional Teamwork**: Partner with IT and finance departments to define system requirements and collaborate on product evaluations, implementations, and upgrades. Gather specifications, research, and design new systems and processes.

- Documentation & Reporting**: Ensure proper documentation, inventory, and modeling for all applications and supported verticals. Use standard reporting tools to create, maintain, and support a variety of reports or queries. Resolve complex reporting issues with IT, Data, and BI staff.

- Change Management**: Oversee the change management processes within the team, ensuring delivery based on goals and prioritization through defined change control processes.

- Policy & Procedure Development**: Develop and maintain process documentation, procedures, and policies. Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to address concerns on established standards and policies.


Qualifications:

- Educational Background: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields preferred.


- Experience:

 - At least 8 years in Business Systems, Applications Management, Business Process Development & Analytics, or related areas.

 - Minimum of 5 years implementing and/or managing tier 1 or tier 2 ERP systems, with experience in modules such as General Ledger with Treasury, Budgeting, Accounts Payable, Purchase Orders, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Project Accounting.

 - At least 3 years of experience with system and/or partner integrations and/or EDI.

 - Minimum of 3 years providing support for data analysis and report design/building.

 - At least 2 years managing banking and/or payment processing systems, including gateways, positive pay, NACHA, and third-party payment processors.

 - A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role with direct reports.


Technical Skills:

 - Advanced expertise in software development methodologies, including UML, Agile, and Waterfall.

 - Strong knowledge of technology business process development.

 - Experience with complex financial application system software projects, system maintenance, tools, and support.

 - Experience with ERP application support and maintenance, including application and report modifications, upgrades, implementations, and training.

 - Knowledge of internal and external audit recommendations for internal control procedures and IT-related systems, policies, and procedures.

 - Strong grasp of various business processes, such as Order to Cash, Procurement to Pay, Subscription Service Models, Customer Service, and Sales Operations.

 - Understanding of generally accepted accounting procedures and audit standards.
