Role: Data Governance Analyst

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Handling Data and Public Records Requests:

 

·       Receiving and Documenting Requests:

·       Receive and log requests for data and public records from non-media sources.

·       Ensure proper documentation and tracking of requests to facilitate timely processing.

 

 Legal Review and Redaction:

·       Assist with legal reviews to identify necessary redactions, ensuring sensitive information is protected before release.

·       Ensure compliance with legal requirements and agency policies related to public records disclosures.

 

 Data Retrieval and Preparation:

·       Coordinate with relevant departments to retrieve requested data and compile necessary documents.

·       Ensure the completeness and accuracy of the information provided in response to requests.

 

 Response Drafting:

·       Prepare responses to data and public records requests within established timelines and legal requirements.

·       Draft clear and complete correspondence and documentation.

 

 Communication and Follow-up:

·       Communicate with requesters to clarify their requests, provide updates on processing status, and coordinate the delivery of requested information.

·       Maintain records of communications and actions taken for each request.

 

Microsoft Purview Oversight:

 

·       Primary Compliance Contact:

·       Serve as the main point of contact for the implementation and oversight of the agency’s Microsoft Purview application.

·       Manage data across various sources, including Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Exchange) and other on-premises, multicloud, and SaaS data.

 

 Key Responsibilities:

·       Data Cataloging: Organize and index data assets for easy discovery and understanding.

·       Data Classification: Apply labels and tags to data based on sensitivity and regulatory requirements.

·       Data Lineage: Track the origins, movements, and transformations of data throughout its lifecycle.

·       Data Insights: Provide analytical capabilities to derive insights and enhance decision-making.

·       Data Compliance: Ensure data usage complies with regulatory standards and internal policies.

 

Policy Development and Compliance:

 

·       Collaboration and Development:

·       Work with the Director of Data Governance to develop and revise policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and guidelines for data management and governance.

·       Ensure policies align with federal and state data laws, regulations, and organizational objectives.

 

 Monitoring and Training:

·       Monitor and interpret federal and state data protection laws, regulations (such as HIPAA), and industry standards.

·       Develop training materials and conduct sessions to educate agency staff on data governance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

·       Promote a culture of compliance and data stewardship across the organization.

 

Data Management and Systems Development:

 

·       Application and System Design:

·       Collaborate with the Director of Data Governance to develop and design data management applications and systems aimed at improving the agency’s data capabilities for public health purposes.

·       Provide general support to the agency in projects funded under the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG), specifically under Strategy A3: Data Modernization.

 

 Project Support:

·       Assist with cataloging and organizing agency data resources to create a public-facing agency-wide data catalog.

·       Support the selection and implementation of an updated process for managing external requests for data and public records.

·       Create and implement project timelines, ensuring effective communication with agency staff and maintaining focus on project goals and deadlines.

·       Collect, organize, and leverage large amounts of data across multiple subject matters to enable more accessible utilization and analysis using data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses, catalogs, etc.

 

Onsite Requirement:

 

 The candidate must be willing to work onsite 75% of the month. Remote candidates need not apply.  The candidate is required to start the contract onsite.
