As the Controller, you are entrusted with managing the accounting, reporting, and finance-related functions. You will play a significant role in the day-to-day operations of the back office of an investment firm and supporting a high-net-worth family. The Controller will report and work with the Chief Financial Officer to support the firm through reviewing transactions, financial statements, and analysis.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting team with fostering an environment of trust and authenticity
  • Manage all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, cash transfers, deal fundings, expense reports and financial reporting
  • Review of capital calls and distributions for fundings and private equity investments
  • Manage the monthly NAV close process to record unrealized changes in the portfolio
  • Maintain financial reporting packages and other required financial information and analytics, including training accounting staff on any changes
  • Prepare financial analysis based on financial reports
  • Monitor cash balances to avoid shortfalls, prepare transfers when needed
  • Review transactions, reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Ensure policies and procedures follow professional standards and implement changes when necessary
  • Manager workpapers for annual tax compliance and liaison with external tax providers
  • Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, process monitoring, and reporting standards

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial statements
  • Experience in maintaining accurate accounting records
  • Ability to work with a small team, learn quickly and manage multiple workstreams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills coupled with strong analytical skills
  • Exceptional work ethic, seeks continuous improvement and takes responsibility

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business, accounting, or related field
  • Seven or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
