Job Description

This position will act as a change agent for Harsco. You will research, improve, and deploy new manufacturing processes by making improvements to current and new procedures throughout the facility. Included within our manufacturing environment are the areas of sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, assembly and paint. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will drive proper development of routings, programming and assembly sequencing process for sub assembly and final assembly. Moreover, this position will lead ventures in the corporate and engineering environment and incorporate these initiatives into the manufacturing sector. Such activities include the implementation and application of advanced planning tools such as PFMEA.

  • Be responsible for the development and deployment of manufacturing processes designed to achieve the highest level of safety throughout the manufacturing plant.
  • Through the use of predictive tools such as Risk Assessments, PFMEA, etc. develop & document standardized Manufacturing Processes that are stable, predictable while achieving the highest level of Safety & Quality performance.
  • Coach & Mentor the Engineering team to drive the execution of productivity projects having a positive impact on the sites financial performance directly related to Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Support and engage in the day to day manufacturing process support of production teams (methods, tooling, equipment, problem solving).
  • Works closely with manufacturing supervisors & managers as well as other support groups and technical leaders to resolve issues that arise as related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Responsible for the planning, development and successful implementation of capital equipment/tooling improvement plans including new product launch activities.
  • Support Harsco Rail Excellence (HRX) activities when required in the endless pursuit of waste elimination throughout the Akron facility.
  • Lead the development of Manufacturing Playbooks for ETO Project Assembly Sequencing.
  • Serve as a gate keeper for Item Creation and Change process.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other Engineering field

 

  1. Experience
  • High Mix Low Volume Highly Engineering Product Development
  • Five or more years of manufacturing experience in an Manufacturing Engineering role leading and implementing new process development for large capital equipment manufacturing and managing capital projects.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Education or Experience
  • BS Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean Manufacturing (Preferred)

  1. Technical Skills
  • Ability to use computers to input, extract, manipulate and analyze data, and populate charts.
  • Experience with BAAN LN ERP system is a plus
  • MS Products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Teamcenter Manufacturing is a plus
  • Experience with reading and understanding engineering design drafts along with engineering and production bills of materials
