Purpose of the Job


1. Responsible for the analysis and simulation of thermal and fluid systems. This includes the development of mathematical models, the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software, and the interpretation of experimental data.


2. To work closely with other engineers to develop and improve the thermal performance of electric drive units and cooling systems (at both component level and vehicle level).


Duties and Responsibilities


1. Develop mathematical models of thermal and fluid systems.


2. Use CFD software to simulate the behaviour of thermal and fluid systems.


3. Interpret experimental data to improve the accuracy of models and simulations.


4. Work with other engineers to develop and improve the performance of thermal and fluid systems.


5. Develop and actively offer solutions regarding cost and quality aspects.


6. Work with team members to develop and document design guides and analysis procedures.


7. Contribute to the requirement capture and decomposition process from system level to component level.


8. Contribute to DFMEA, FTA and 8D activities.


9. Participate in design review sessions.


10. Stay up to date on the latest advances in thermal and cooling systems engineering.


11. Any other duties as reasonably necessary.


Qualifications and Experience


1. Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a related field.


2. Strong industry experience in thermal and fluid analysis.


3. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.


4. Experience with CFD software.


5. Experience of designing for manufacture.


6. Experience in the automotive industry would be an advantage.
