The Area HR Manager will support employees and contract employee across a portfolio of full service hotels. The properties range from a AAA 4-diamond rated conference center to a boutique 150 room independent hotel located between DC, Baltimore and Annapolis and one of the top performing Cambria hotels in the Brand. The dynamic teams at each bring the properties to life. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The ideal Area HR Manager for the Hotel Division is a superior communicator and leader focused on enhancing the Hotel Division culture. The right leader will lead all primary HR functions including recruiting, training, recognition, team member relations and will work closely with supporting corporate team members. The Area HR Manager will establish standards and programs, assist in training and discipline and help the various teams achieve their business objectives while building a strong sense of team and community in the hotels.

 

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:

§ Responsible for performing the duties as Human Resources Manager of area properties as assigned.

§ Coordinate, update and maintain all phases of the Performance Management Appraisal System (assisting with team member support, creating informational tools for team members, reporting on all levels etc.)

§ Management of on-site Human Resource Department

§ Participate in hotel wage surveys with all types of organizations; local, state and national level

§ Conduct hotel wage surveys within the labor market to determine competitive wage rates company-wide to ensure we are meeting the surrounding area’s compensation

§ Will coordinate with Management in regard to hotel changes that may include, job descriptions and other hotel related policies and procedures for approval

§ Provide managerial and team member support to hotel team members on the interpretation of Human Resources policies, procedures, guidelines and programs

§ Administer and train managers/supervisors on effective coaching and counseling

§ Facilitate and process progressive disciplinary procedures

§ Handle all payroll related tasks such as ADP timekeeper and biweekly signoff’s, the processing of new hire paperwork with a timely submittal to the People Team

§ Distribute W-2’s and paystubs as needed

§ Monitor ADP and assist managers to ensure accurate punches, leave hours, and overtime

§ Assist current and previous team members in available options regarding Management’s Retirement Pension Funds

§ Oversee and analyze supervisors and manager on methods and approaches to resolve team member work concerns/issues and the need for compliance

§ Ensure unresolved incidents are reported to manager/supervisor

§ Assist in the coordination and oversee hotel functions that are human resource related (Team Member of The Month Luncheon, Team Building, Celebrations, etc.)

§ Understand company’s emergency procedures and be able to apply them when necessary

§ Attend department meetings and training sessions as necessary

§ Submit all necessary team member paperwork to the appropriate member in the People Team

§ On-board new hires, and complete all new hire related tasks and paperwork

§ Assist with team member terminations as needed

§ Maintain professional and technical work knowledge

§ Have general understanding of local and state union trends

§ Contribute to the team’s effort by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed

  • Contribute to team/company engagement efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate manager or VP 

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

§ Must be able to distinguish between policies and procedures, and guidelines

§ Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with payroll/salaries and all employment issues on a “need to know” basis

§ Familiar with labor laws and assist the People Team with hotel unemployment cases

§ Ability to multi-task, delegate and job share

§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

§ Compute basic arithmetic and mathematical calculations

§ Organized and detail oriented

§ Excellent interpersonal skills

§ Sound leadership and managerial skills

§ Ability to work effectively in stressful, high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and guest satisfaction

§ Technical knowledgeable and competency in necessary systems and software:

o   [Outlook, Word, Excel, ADP, etc.]

QUALIFICATIONS:

§ 5+ years demonstrated Human Resources experience, in a Hotel/hospitality or food and beverage environment

§ 2 years minimum supervisory experience

§ High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree in relevant field, and/or SHRM certification preferred
