Title: Senior Practice Group Manager (Government Contracts/Labor & Employment)

Location: Washington, DC

Office requirements: Tuesday – Thursday

Salary: $150-$220K + bonus


Global law firm, with offices in the United States, Europe, MENA, and Asia that represents clients in litigation and arbitration, regulatory and policy, intellectual property, and transactional and corporate matters is looking to hire a Senior Practice Group Manager (PGM) in their Washington, DC office. The Senior Practice Group Manager reports into the Department Practice Director and supports two practice groups, Government Contracts and Labor & Employment, comprised of 100+ attorneys per practice area. 



  • The role supports two practice groups in managing operations,
  • Key responsibilities include drafting and executing strategic plans and collaborating with other firm departments.
  • Talent management involves overseeing onboarding, monitoring workload, and driving recruiting strategies.
  • The Senior PGM plays a pivotal role in attorney evaluations, mentorship programs, and diversity initiatives.
  • Practice management duties include monitoring metrics, maintaining resources, and organizing retreats.
  • Effective communication, meetings, and training sessions are essential for practice group cohesion.
  • Financial oversight and strategic planning are conducted in collaboration with the Finance team.
  • Qualifications include extensive knowledge of legal and business environments, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and strategic decision-making ability.
  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience are required, with preference given to candidates with prior law firm or professional services experience.
