Maintenance A Technician

Location: Avon, OH

Shift: Swing (2nd/3rd) 6pm-2:30am (approx..)

Pay: $27.72** Raise at 6/12/24 months

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Hours: Hybrid, 2nd / 3rd Shift

Work Days: Mon-Fri (Saturday Work When Needed)

Differential: Yes


Summary:

The Maintenance “A” position installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, and electrical systems.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and create action plans for repair.
  • Diagnose problems or repair machines, discussing machine operation variations with others if necessary.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as PLCs and wiring, and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the building.
  • Install, program, or repair automated machinery such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as grinders, drills, taps, sawzalls, and FS40 Manual Shredder machines.
  • Repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) as required and train machine operators.
  • Operate a forklift or other powered industrial equipment (PIE) as required.
  • Keep the shop, toolbox, and work areas clean.
  • Decide when to bring in outside contractors and coordinate their activities on site.
  • Complete daily inspections of Boiler Room equipment.
  • Work with Corporate Engineering and Maintenance to minimize repair expenses.
  • Collaborate with leaders and team members across departments to plan, coordinate, design, and implement continuous improvement ideas to enhance plant efficiency.
  • Assist engineering with capital project activities.
  • Assist in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to operate equipment.
  • Develop and lead the Centerline Program on equipment.
  • Follow NFPA 70, LOTO, and OSHA Safety rules.
  • Ensure BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires a two-year certificate from a college or technical school in Electrical Maintenance Technician, Mechatronics, or equivalent program, OR a high school diploma with three to five years of related experience specifically with safety, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC programming. Proficient in Microsoft Office and CMMS programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
