The Position:

The Director of Raw Material Procurement will play a critical role in sourcing and managing the supply of raw agricultural fruits and vegetables for our processing operations in the heart of the Willamette Valley. This role encompasses spot market purchases, contracting with fresh pack processors, and direct relationships with local and West Coast farmers. The Director will also oversee the logistics of transporting these raw materials to our client's processing plant and report directly to the the COO.


Responsibilities:

  • Raw Material Procurement Strategy: Build on the current strategy to develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy to ensure a consistent and cost-effective supply of high-quality raw agricultural products.
  • Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with brokers, fresh pack processors, and local farmers to secure a reliable supply chain while promoting a win-win approach to creating long-term relationships.
  • Logistics Management: Oversee the transportation of raw fruits and vegetables to our client's processing plant, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery.
  • Field Department Oversight: Manage the Field Department responsible for grower relations and the supervision of contract growers, ensuring the successful cultivation of crops for our client.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Sales group and CFO to align raw material procurement with sales objectives, delivering raw materials at the agreed-upon quality, specifications, and price to achieve positive margins.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain stringent quality standards for all raw materials, collaborating with the Quality Assurance team to address any issues promptly.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Proven track record in procurement of raw agricultural products and vendor management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience with logistics and supply chain management.
  • Leadership and team management experience.
