Position Summary:

Overall responsibility for the functions and processes in the Materials Department. Ensuring, through purchase order placement and intercompany branch transfers, that the appropriate amount of stock standard products is in place at all warehouse locations to support local sales. Management of activities with domestic and import suppliers.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

•      Management of the stock standard and special products purchasing process.

•      Inventory management through transfer design and stock sales analysis.

•      Strategic sourcing and vendor development.

•      Management of new suppliers and/or products through analysis of data and trends.

•      Management of branch inventories ensuring availability of stock standard products.

•      Implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage.

•      Materials department management – Administrative processes and domestic/import logistics.

•      Guide special mill buy price and lead time to support unique buy opportunities to gain business.

•      Execution of product management analysis to alert Sales to avoid potential customer loss.

•      Support and stock sales trend evaluation of new product development to drive sales force focus.

•      Strong understanding of ERP systems (NetSuite a plus).

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

•      Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related field.

•      10+ years of relevant experience in a supply chain environment.

•      5+ years supervisory experience.

•      15% travel to other branches and suppliers (domestic and international).

•      Experience in developing inventory management system in a multi-site environment.

•      Strong data management skills and decision-making capabilities
