Senior Quality Manager - Metal Extrusion & Casting - Automotive Industry - Ohio


Our Client continues to see rapid growth as a leading provider of quality aluminum cast products and extrusions. With state-of-the-art technology and manufacturing facilities across Ohio and Pennsylvania, our client serves a range of markets - including automotive, transportation, building and construction, electrical and machinery, consumer durables and distribution.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The Senior Quality Manager is responsible for supporting/ coordinating efforts to drive sustainable CI operational excellence & customer satisfaction, by utilizing Lean tools to efficiently process map root causes and ultimately execute corrective actions to drive growth, profitability, and ensure business objectives are met.
  •  Implement/ manage quality systems & direct/ manage QA personnel & activities, associated w/ production & production planning, maintaining high standards of product/ service quality, ensuring compliance w/ relevant industry regulations & guidelines. Monitor, guide & review outside processors to achieve quality, service & delivery goals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, and continuous improvement in a matrixed environment that requires a collaborative leadership style to develop, coach, and motivate employees regarding quality functions, tools, and philosophies
  • Collaborate with the Senior Manufacturing Manager & General Manager to develop/ implement operational plans that align with the company's growth opportunities and business objectives.
  • Assist in the development of key performance indicators (KPIs), to regularly assess performance and identify areas for improvement, and assist with the development of quality objectives necessary to support Key Result Area (KRA) plans (including action plans associated with these plans).
  • Manage all IATF-16949/ISO-9001 program activities including being the primary plant representative and authority on IATF-16949/ISO-9001 requirements and the primary contact to external ISO auditors.
  • Our client is very customer focused therefore new hire must effectively & directly interface with customers and/or suppliers to effectively address issues, concerns, programs, projects, etc.
  • Support manufacturing processes w/ adequate and effective capability studies, problem solving activities and quality analysis.
  • Collect and compile data to support the QMS management review process and lead multi-disciplinary team activities associated with Advanced Product Quality Planning.
  • Manage/ coordinate Returned Material Authorization (RMA) & Customer Complaint Notification (CCN) activities with input from Sales, Customer Service & Manufacturing groups.
  • Participate in candidate interviewing, hiring & employee training; including planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.



QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:


  • Proven track record of 5+ years’ Quality management or Quality control leadership in a heavy manufacturing Automotive manufacturing background (preferably leading Lab Techs and Engineers)
  • Metals industry preferred w/ extrusion and/or aluminum rolling (6000 series alloys a plus)
  • Need to have IATF Certification from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier or come directly from Automotive
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or related field; master’s preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green belt - Toyota Production Systems; Alcoa Business Systems; etc. (nice to have)
  • IATF certified w/ experience w/ AS9100 Certifications, APQP Launch, Tensile testing, Metallography, OGP, and CMM (nice to have)
  • Excellent organizational skills & analytical abilities: Root Cause Analysis & Solution-based thinking, Data-driven Problem Solving and Project Planning
  • Ability to work w/ mathematical concepts such as probability & statistical inference, applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Collaborative & motivating team management leadership skills, w/ demonstrated experience in Employee Engagement and team building.
  • Proficiency in writing reports & procedure manuals, w/ ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, managers, customers, and the general public.
