Instrumentation Engineer

Concord, CA

Position Details:

  • Prepare instrumentation work scopes, cost estimates, schedules, material specs, sketches, construction work packages, and other required documentation.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation problems & issues, develop alternatives, and propose & implement solutions for long-term reliability.
  • Answer technical inquiries, make technical recommendations, improve design tools, & develop design procedures, and provide training.
  • Manage, design & execute instrument related capital projects.
  • Document & manage information related to instrumentation systems & equipment.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable Environmental, Health, Safety, & Building codes as required by Federal, State, &Local regulations.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

TECHNICAL: 

  • Strong knowledge of field instrumentation & controls including sensors, transmitters, final control elements, process control systems, communication protocols and wiring methods. 
  • Specify, purchase, install, commission & troubleshoot field instrumentation. 
  • Design instrument loops including selection & sizing of flow meters, control valves and other field instrumentation. 
  • Read, understand & develop drawings including P&IDs, schematics, and connection diagrams. 
  • Evaluate & select suppliers for specific instrumentation applications.


COMMUNICATION: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Listen & properly regard input from all team members & stakeholders. 
  • Communicate technical ideas to a wide range of groups. 


COMPUTER SKILLS: 

  • Use Microsoft Office programs to efficiently & effectively convey information. 
  • Use engineering software to perform design calculations including design of flow meters & control valves.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering related discipline is preferred.
  • 5 years of instrument engineering experience is required. 



Compensation Range: $50 - $82/hr
