Our team is seeking a Chief Operating Officer for a world-class museum and educational organization that inspires action today, based on the historical stories of courage, perseverance, loss, redemption and new life. This nonprofit is dedicated to providing transformative learning experiences that touch hearts and change minds.
The Chief Operating Officer will join the organization in a time of unprecedented organizational growth and will provide pivotal leadership, along with the CEO, to develop and execute the organization’s strategic vision.
With oversight of finance, museum operations, security, IT, facilities, and human resources, the COO is key to ensuring the efficiency, innovation, and success of the organization. The hired individual will champion a positive work culture and serve as a thought partner to the CEO in bringing a strategic operations lens and expertise to the executive leadership of the organization.
The COO will work in-office in Cincinnati and will report to the CEO.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Innovation and Process Improvement - Drive innovation and streamline processes to enhance efficiency and workflows across the organization.
Executive Representation - Represent the organization internally and externally with an executive presence and strong relational skills.
Team Leadership - Create and nurture an ideal environment for a high-functioning team to thrive cohesively and collaboratively. Model and empower/facilitate collaborative leadership, including the planning and quarterbacking of staff meetings, retreats, social activities, etc.
Finance Oversight - Manage finance committee/board stewardship, grant support, cash flow planning, endowment management and budgeting. Provide oversight of outsourced finance and HR functions.
Integration of People and Process - Build and implement systems and processes that enable and enhance integration and collaboration of people and workflows across the organization.
Governance Leadership - Lead nominating, governance, and finance committee activities and manage all logistical management of board and relevant committee meetings, from scheduling the meetings to building and disseminating materials, to post-meeting follow-up.
Human Resources Management - Implement best practices in HR, including talent development, staff meetings, reviews, professional development, and onboarding.
IT Management - Oversee hardware and software systems, and provide leadership on staff training for HubSpot, Box, and Monday integrations.
Risk Management - Identify and mitigate internal and external threats, utilizing outside counsel as necessary.
Strategic Planning - Collaborate with the CEO to plan and execute the strategic plan and report key performance indicators (KPIs).
Museum Operations - Manage strategic planning for museum updates, changes, and maintenance, including security for museum and public events.
Project Management - Be the organizational expert, streamliner, and standard bearer/nexus point for project management. Provide support for events, including vendor management, audiovisual equipment rental, and catering.
Development Operations - Support operation of development portfolio, including leveraging data and systems in revenue projection, goal setting and progress made towards those goals. Support project management of development portfolio including campaigns, implementation of other development initiatives, including but not limited to grant budgeting and reporting and accounting.
Collaboration with Building Management -
Serve as the lead liaison with landlord and key partners for all operational matters.
