What Our Client Needs:

 

Our client is looking for a Physical Education Teacher. Teachers generally function under the supervision of the principal and child study team in the development of an appropriate physical education program. Teachers are knowledgeable about movement and the adaptive PE process of handicapped students. They organize appropriate activities following the school health and physical education curriculum and student IEPs. They implement educational activities to develop students ‘individual development in motor skills and social/emotional behavior. The teacher provides appropriate and consistent services to the student, helping to implement physical educational activities.



What You’ll Do:


  • Works under the direct supervision of the principal.
  • Works effectively with the child study team, sending district child study teams, administration, parents and support staff (teacher assistants, crisis counselor, related services)
  • Gives direction to teacher assistants participating in the activities.
  • Utilizes teacher assistant appropriately to support student activities
  • Utilizes an effective classroom management system
  • Organizes classroom environment/lessons effectively to meet students’ needs
  • Utilizes appropriate methods/materials to help student succeed
  • Order/utilizes supplies and equipment
  • Maintains ongoing and regular contact with classroom teacher and Physical Therapist concerning: student growth, behavior, needs
  • Utilizes a sequential curricula with planned experiences to enable students to:

- develop self-expression

- improve self-concept

- develop social skills

- develop self-help skills

- improve pupil’s health/physical development

- maintains/turns in lesson plans weekly to the principal

  • Participates in curriculum development
  • Participates in orientation/in-service programs on the nature/management of handicapped students’ educational problems/needs
  • Participates in program evaluation/implementation and works cooperatively with teachers/counselors/therapists
  • Controls gym in a structured/non-authoritarian way
  • Disciplines students while encouraging positive self-growth rather than punishment
  • Attends yearly Primary Restraint Technique (PRT) training.
  • Participates in PIP for professional development


 

What You’ll Need:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • NJ Teaching Certification
  • NJ Teacher of Health and Physical Education
  • *Must be willing to get lifeguard certification and CPO certification (paid for by program)
