Title: VP Finance / Global Controller – Payments

Overview:

Our client, a full-service provider of payment solutions and support, is searching for a VP Finance / Global Controller to add to their leadership team. This is an opportunity to work for a rapidly growing, private equity backed fintech leader servicing 27,000 merchants processing $12B in transactions per year via integrated proprietary payment and vertical technology.


The VP Finance/ Global Controller will lead their global Accounting and Compliance team. Over the last few years, the Company has transformed its business via organic growth, acquisitions and investments in its proprietary technology. They are looking for a VP Finance / Global Controller who can support the Board, Investors, CEO / CFO in transforming its Accounting Function including redesigning and automating its accounting processes, selecting and implementing a new ERP system, building its control environment and leveraging and organizing financial data to support better business decisioning.


You will have an extremely high degree of visibility within the organization partnering with the executive team, the CEO and CFO. They’re seeking a senior leader who is a change agent and driver of innovation, who is willing to challenge the status quo from both an operational and team perspective.


The ideal candidate will have fintech and / or payment processing experience, have experience in scaling & automating accounting processes (including shortening monthly close), and understand how to manage financial data including leveraging ERP system.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and vision for scaling their financial infrastructure and accounting team
  • Lead the timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process and all associated activities.
  • Develop and mentor the accounting team
  • Be the technical accounting decision-maker for the company. Ensure consistent implementation of corporate accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with US GAAP
  • Drive improvements in existing and new reporting systems to increase efficiencies, enhance processes, automate activities and reduce reporting timelines
  • Act as primary liaison to the external auditors and other external service providers
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable taxes (especially sales tax), lead the tax prep and submissions process
  • Lead selection of an implementation of new ERP once Accounting Processes have been better defined and automated
  • Balance Sheet accuracy and substantiation. Ensure appropriate understanding of balances, identify any potential aging/stale issues and appropriate action takes place
  • Cash flow forecasting to ensure compliance with bank and liquidity
  • Work closely with FP&A on forecast and accurate closing of books


Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in senior accounting roles at Private and or/ public companies experiencing high growth
  • BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA required with excellent technical accounting skills
  • Prior progressive experience running global finance and accounting functions at a fintech or payment processing company
  • Experience in M&A, from deal origination to post-merger integration
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC, and other relevant accounting and regulatory standards
  • Experience across Audit, Accounting, Reporting & Finance Ops
  • Ability and experience to simplify and scale within a fast-moving business rapidly experiment with new lines of business
  • Proven ability to attract and retain talent, while building an organization
  • Strong executive presence in leading teams and working cross-functionally
  • Ability to navigate through challenges, multi-task, take ownership, and deliver on commitment
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent soft-skills and ability to motivate and influence all levels of management
