Computer Technologies Consultants (CTC) is seeking a Content Management Specialist to support the Department of State in Arlington, VA. This position is currently remote with occasional meetings in Arlington, VA.

Position Title: Content Management Specialist

Position Location: This position is currently remote and Arlington VA State Department campus.


Daily Responsibilities:                                 

Supports the TMS Knowledge Management function. Knowledge management (KM) is the process of effectively capturing, creating, organizing, storing, managing, and sharing collective organizational knowledge and information assets within an organization. KM encompasses the technology an organization uses to facilitate knowledge sharing, the resources supporting it, and the processes, practices, and tools used to manage knowledge assets.

  • Captures, creates, organizes, manages, stores, and shares collective knowledge and information in the organization.
  • Writes short succinct copy of technical information for a nontechnical audience.
  • Copyedits, proofreads, and applies Associated Press (AP) or other industry-standard style guides.
  • Converts digital products into other formats, such as print documents or word processing files, to aid in review of content. 
  • Ensures Section 508 compliance and accessibility of knowledge and information assets.
  • Ensures that products meet usability standards, function properly on delivery platforms, and comply with government policies that include but are not limited to handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Uses online delivery platforms including, but not limited to, SharePoint, ServiceNow, responsive websites and mobile applications to share knowledge content. 
  • Manages records and ensures proper recordation and archiving of completed products/versions of products. 
  • Maintains a record of product versions and manages change requests to products. 
  • Ensures the overall quality of products and materials. 
  • Responds to data calls on product versions, product content, and other information, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Required Years of Experience (min):       

  • Minimum 2 years related experience. Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience to provide testing and analysis of more complex or cutting-edge products that are often not encountered in typical entry-level assignments for e-learning.


Required Degree/Certifications:              

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.


Required Experience:                                  

  • Experience with Knowledge Management to include capturing, creating, organizing, storing, managing, and sharing collective knowledge and information within an organization.
  • Experience writing short succinct copy of technical information for a nontechnical audience.
  • Experience copyediting and proofreading.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and accessibility requirements.
  • Experience applying AP or other industry-standard style guides to written products.
  • Familiarity with US Government web development policies and standards. 
  • Experience with change and version control systems. 
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to be flexible with work assignments, quickly and easily adapt to changes in priorities, and multi-task under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong verbal interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft products, O365, SharePoint.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with ServiceNow Knowledge Management preferred.


Required Clearance:

  • Secret clearance. Public Trust with ability to obtain Interim Secret Clearance will be accepted.
