We are currently in search of a Manager of Institutional Giving for a Social Service Organization. The position is based in Washington, DC (Hybrid). This is a full-time, permanent position.

POSITION TITLE: Manager of Institutional Giving
ANNUAL SALARY: $72,000-77,000/year plus benefits
Is This Your Dream Job? This position will inherit a well-structured portfolio of private and public (local and federal government) funders to build and retain long-term grant investments. This person will lead the institutional strategy for grants (public and private) and funder relationships that align with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic direction to significantly grow this organization’s institutional giving portfolio. COVID-19 vaccination or legal exemption required.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- 2+ years of grants management experience required
- 3+ years of direct management and supervisory experience required.
- Proven experience with personally cultivating, soliciting, securing, and renewing private grants above $100,000. .
- Proficient with MS 365, Project Management Platforms, CRM systems and Grant Management Systems
- Experience in trauma issues in gender-based and power-based violence fields, including domestic violence, sexual assault/violence, human trafficking, and interfamilial violence, is a plus.
How You Will Spend Your Day:
Systems & Communications (40% LOE):
- Oversee each grant's life cycle, ensuring the reporting terms and conditions align with the organization’s policies and procedures and are met in a timely manner.
- Create strategies for current and prospective funding opportunities, including multi-year approaches, in line with organizational and strategic goals.
- Manage outsourced grant consultant(s) by sharing grant collateral, due dates, and timelines, reviewing, and approving drafted proposals and reports for finalization for 2-3 private grant supports each month.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally with leadership and all appropriate internal staff to ensure alignment and clarity on annual grant portfolio and development teams' needs. Concurrently, building concept opportunities for future funding.
- Create high-quality materials, including quarterly impact reports for leadership and institutional funders; Support the preparation of meeting briefs and materials for Executive and Senior Leadership teams when hosting meetings, tours, or calls with institutional funders.
- Contribute to the collection of stories for Development Team communications, annual reports, and case statements.
Grant Strategy (30% LOE):
- In collaboration with the CDCO, design and execute a new annual and long-term grant strategy to maintain and grow funder relationships and increase funder support from the public and private sectors.
- In collaboration with the CDCO, Develop, recommend, and implement grant-making and contracting policies and processes related to the full spectrum of the grants lifecycle.
- Assess progress toward goals - identify what is driving and impeding progress, develop solutions to address gaps, and adjust course, as necessary.
- In collaboration with the CDCO, develop new strategies to streamline private grant portfolio with the potential for the highest ROI and capacity for six and seven figure gifts.
- Utilize data to develop metrics for success, track progress, recommend benchmarks, and set revenue projections to assist with the organization's annual budgeting and goal-setting process in coordination with the CDCO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for private and government grants.
Management & Leadership (30% LOE):
- Supervise outsourced grant consultants to meet and execute grant deliverables.
- Coach, develop, and mentor staff within the organization to promote a culture of philanthropy across all organization departments.
- Partner closely and co-lead monthly grant reconciliations with Development and Finance to track spending and activities against grants to ensure compliance with funder and DASH requirements within the designated grant performance period.
- Partner with the development team to ensure donor data integrity and efficient systems for coding, data entry, gift processing, and relationship management are maintained.
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to best practices in cultivation, solicitation, stewardship strategies and techniques, and fundraising ethics.
- Identify professional development opportunities that can further develop skills that contribute to leadership and management - including workshops, lectures, certifications, and training sessions.
