We are currently in search of a Special Events Manager (Peer-to-peer fundraising) for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to support their mission of saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by Suicide. The position is a remote role in Louisiana or Mississippi. This is a full-time permanent position.

SALARY: $55k - $65k

The Special Events Manager (peer-to-peer fundraising) is responsible for implementing AFSP fundraising events and revenue-generating initiatives within the assigned market. They will report directly to the Executive Director for the Louisiana and Mississippi chapters.

 

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in peer-to-peer fundraising events.
  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit special event fundraising.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Uphold and exhibit the agency’s Core Values.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule and have regular attendance at the workplace.
  • All other work-related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to travel as needed to attend work meetings or events.

 

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

  • Plan, manage, and implement AFSP’s signature fundraising events, the Out of the Darkness Community Walks and Campus Walks, within the assigned market.
  • Develop budgets for all walk and non-walk fundraising events.
  • Implement all other approved chapter fundraising events and revenue-generating events and initiatives.   
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, and managing all walk and other fundraising event committee and day-of-event volunteers.
  • Work with event-related vendors, municipalities, and venues.
  • Work with appropriate national staff on corporate, foundation, and grant fundraising.
  • Responsible for securing sponsorships for all event fundraising.
  • Growth expected is a minimum 20% increase in fundraising each year.
  • Assist the Programs Manager with planning and implementing Program events.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
