We are currently in search of a Director of Finance and Administration for a Conservation Organization based in San Francisco, CA. This is a Full-Time, In-Person, Permanent opportunity with an anticipated salary of $135,000-$150,000.

POSITION TITLE: Director of Finance and Administration

SCHEDULE: 37.5 hours/week (In-Person)

DURATION: Permanent

SALARY: $135,000- $150,000

The Director of Finance and Administration provides overall financial and administrative direction and oversight for the organization, ensuring effective and efficient operations across departments and contracted Foundations. Reporting directly to the President, the Director supervises other accounting and administrative staff, serves as a member of the executive leadership team; and provides support to the Board of Directors’ Finance and Audit Committees.


Our Ideal Candidate:

·       5+ years experience managing the finances & operations of a $2M+ non-profit

·       Familiarity with Financial Accounting Standards Board requirements

·       Experience in QuickBooks & Monday.com

·       Excellent organization and communication skills

·       Proven track record of problem-solving, resourcefulness, and exceeding set goals

·       Bachelor’s degree – Master’s preferred

 

How You Will Spend Your Day:

Finance and Investments

·       Enhance financial policies and procedures for strong controls, accurate accounting, and system integrity.

·       Maximize organizational resources through sound financial management.

·       Lead financial planning, including annual budgeting.

·       Prepare project budgets for proposals and funder reports.

·       Monitor financial performance and prepare financial statements in compliance with FASB and other standards.

·       Prepare cash flow projections and manage cash.

·       Implement investment policies for general assets and special funds.

·       Manage annual independent and program audits.

·       Identify and implement cost recovery techniques.

 

Risk Management, Compliance, and Accreditation

·       Ensure compliance with government regulations related to HR, charitable registrations, and lobbying.

·       Review risks regularly and maintain risk reduction policies and insurance coverage.

·       Ensure asset, record, and facility security.

·       Oversee emergency preparedness.

 

Human Resources

·       Manage HR and payroll processes, including budget and policy review.

·       Ensure competitive compensation and high-quality benefits packages.

·       Oversee employee recruitment, onboarding, and separations.

·       Ensure compliance with hiring policies and legal requirements.

·       Oversee staff professional development.

·       Support interdepartmental coordination.

 

Contracts and Purchasing

·       Prepare and administer contracts and leases.

·       Ensure efficient purchasing for economical and high-quality acquisitions.

 

Information Technology

·       Supervise selection and maintenance of IT resources.

·       Ensure quality control of the constituent database.

 

Facilities

·       Ensure facilities meet organizational needs.

·       Administer leases and maintain facilities.

·       Support meeting and event logistics.

 

General Administration

·       Ensure programs have necessary administrative support.

·       Perform other duties as assigned.
