Our client, a design build general contractor located in north Denver is seeking to hire a Project Engineer.

Job Description:

The project engineer acts as a liaison between the project manager and the technical disciplines involved in a project and bridges the boundaries between engineering and project management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing submittal logs and tracking deliverables, participate in subcontractor project orientation meetings, communicate and coordinate submittals and coordination drawings with subcontractors and the Superintendent
  • Proactive administration of reviewing and processing all submittal data and shop drawings to ensure project schedules are expedited and materials are delivered on time
  • Participates in preconstruction meetings with subcontractors
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with project manager
  • Attends and participates in meetings with Architect/Engineer and owner representatives, provides information and assists the Project Manager in the preparation of progress reports/meeting minutes
  • Distributes proposal change documents to subcontractors/suppliers and assists in collecting pricing and/or prepares change proposal requests for internal pricing review
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements
  • Communicate with the PM on all conflicts or changes associated with the project.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications and plan changes, recommending actions
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures rules and regulations
  • Serves as the onsite quality manager for assigned trades by verifying subcontractor deliveries meet approved submittal requirements
  • Issuing RFI’s, soliciting pricing for and preparing change orders              
  • Ensures all clarifications, changes, directives, RFIs, etc., are updated on the “as-built” drawings and are fully coordinated with company supervision and all subcontractor/suppliers
  • Issuing change orders, coordinating construction activities, procurement of materials, assist in generating and updating project schedules, conducting owner training, and generating and compiling project close-out documentation.
  • Responsible for submitting owner required close-out documents and assisting subcontractors /suppliers in scheduling owner required training and documentation
  • Assisting the assigned project manager with all aspects of a project as directed
  • Assists in the development of site utilization plan
  • Excellent accounting, verbal and written skills are essential
  • Daily operations of field work activities and organization of subcontractors
  • Coordination of the implementation of a project, ensuring it is being built correctly
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and forecasts
  • Interpretation of drawings for tradesmen
  • Review of engineering deliverables
  • Redlining drawings
  • Bill of materials creation and maintenance
  • Effective communications between engineering, technical, construction, and project controls group
  • The Project Engineer must be highly proficient in Timberline, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, Project software. In addition the PE must have ability to read plans.

Education and Experience:

Practical Commercial Construction work experience is a must.  The person in this position must excel in the areas of scheduling and cost estimate. The PE must also have a solid background in the administrative, technical skills, and be able to successfully handle multiple tasks at the same time.
