Trade Compliance Specialist

Monday to Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. Temporary position only. Need experience in Excel and able to analyze and manage large data sets. Experience in Logistics, Brokerage, or International Trade would all be preferred. Customer Service experience is needed as well.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS                                                                          

  1. HTS Classification
  2. Classifies SHW products with Harmonized Tariff Schedule of US and HTS of other countries using general rules of interpretation, other tariff regulatory information, product chemistry, product function, and customs rulings.
  3. ECCN Classification
  4. Determine ECCN classification of products, based on data points. Refer products of concern to supervisor for review.
  5. Free Trade Agreements Eligibility Review
  6. Determines eligibility of manufactured products for preferential treatments under free trade agreements such as USMCA.
  7. Ensures proper documentation, such as raw material certificates of Origin, are collected from suppliers as required, indexed and maintained in product's databases. Works with purchasing groups to procure annual COO for both chemical raw materials, intermediates and purchased articles such as tape, brushes, rollers, shirts, pants, color cards.
  8. Responds to internal and external customer inquiries for HTS classification, ECCN and USML and requests for COO, NAFTA and other FTA certificates of origin
  9. Complies data for duty refund application programs.
  10. Trade Compliance Support
  11. Support monthly broker metrics reporting and exception follow-up.
  12. Support customs entry audit activities
  13. Support data clean-up activities.
  14. Support customer requests for information.
  15. Other responsibilities and projects to support the Trade Compliance team, as assigned
