Job Description: Senior IT Developer

Location: Cleveland, OH, United States

Schedule: Hybrid


Position Overview:

The Senior IT Developer will play a vital role within the Health, Environmental and Regulatory Systems (HEARS) department, contributing to the development and maintenance of both new and existing applications. This position requires a keen ability to comprehend complex business domain requirements, collaborate closely with Product Owners, and translate needs into effective IT solutions. While primarily focused on Java-based technologies, the incumbent should possess a well-rounded knowledge of full stack technologies, enabling participation in UX or Persistence-oriented development teams. Development responsibilities span across new logic/features, enhancements, bug fixes, and ongoing support. Additionally, this role will actively participate in continuous deployment activities such as tagging, promoting, and building.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategy & Planning:

  • Interpret user stories and business requirements to craft functional specifications and determine optimal technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Architecture role to review standards and implement approved architecture designs.
  • Contribute technical and process improvement recommendations as a member of the technical leadership team.


Acquisition & Deployment:

  • Undertake complex programming assignments adhering to established standards, methods, and best practices.
  • Design application and database components for development projects, analyzing business models and customer requirements.
  • Mitigate risks associated with technically complex projects and address significant business challenges.


Operational Management:

  • Maintain and modify applications, incorporating approved changes through documentation updates, logic development, and coding.
  • Provide support for critical application issues and serve as a Subject Matter Expert in resolving production problems.
  • Train and mentor other developers, sharing expertise and best practices.
  • Collaborate with business domain experts on analyzing existing functions and defining technical requirements.


Incidental Functions:

  • Lead presentations and conduct research on new tools or technologies as requested.
  • Assist with other projects to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead internal teams or task forces as assigned.
  • Participate in hiring activities and ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity policies.


Qualifications:


Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience.
  • Extensive experience with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue, React, Node.js), and CSS3.
  • Proficiency in Java, JEE, JAX-RS, Spring Boot, ORM, and object-oriented design techniques.
  • Preferred experience includes Microservices, Cloud-Native architecture, API, Event-driven systems, CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud, automation, Docker/Kubernetes, SQL, Agile methodology, and JIRA.

Note: This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization and offers a hybrid work model with three days in the office and two days remote.
