Job Title: Senior Linux Systems Engineer

Location: Cleveland, OH (No Relocation Available)

Salary: Up to $125,000 per year

Job Type: Full-Time, Hybrid Schedule

Responsibilities:

• Design and deploy Linux-based virtualization systems, with expertise in VMWare, OVM, XEN, or other virtualization platforms.
• Deploy applications, databases, and virtualization services to meet organizational needs.
• Perform Linux security vulnerability detection and remediation, with a preference for experience using Qualys.
• Demonstrate understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and network concepts.
• Utilize automation and deployment tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ruby, Jenkins, GIT, Python, Shell scripting, or similar.
• Apply best practices to storage administration and implement Linux server hardening and security practices.
• Implement PCI and HIPAA compliance standards, if applicable.
• Develop and maintain an ITIL-based service catalog for Linux platforms.
• Contribute to software development efforts and possess a working knowledge of database technologies (Oracle clustering and ASM, MongoDB, MySQL, and/or DB2).
• Provide systems administration support and demonstrate an understanding of container technology.

Qualifications:

Formal Education & Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or foreign equivalent).
• Relevant certifications are a plus.

Knowledge & Experience:

• 5+ years of IT experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing and deploying Linux-based virtualization systems (VMWare, OVM, XEN, or other experience preferred).
• Experience deploying applications, databases, and virtualization services.
• Experience in Linux security vulnerability detection and remediation (Qualys preferred).
• Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and network concepts.
• Experience with automation and deployment tools (Puppet, Chef, Ruby, Jenkins, GIT, Python, Shell scripting, or similar).

Preferred Experience:

• Storage administration practices.
• Linux server hardening and security practices.
• Experience implementing PCI and HIPAA compliance standards.
• ITIL-based service catalog development for Linux platforms.
• Software development experience.
• Working knowledge of database technologies (Oracle clustering and ASM, MongoDB, MySQL, and/or DB2).
• Systems Administration experience.
• Understanding of container technology.
