Harrison Gray Search has partnered with a leading Fire Investigation Group seeking an experienced Engineer for their Dallas/Fort Worth region.


Summary:


Experience a career in forensic engineering with one of the largest, most successful fire investigation companies in the country. Our client offers an interesting, challenging and varied work environment that combines the skills of hands-on examination, theoretical analysis summation report writing. Forensic Engineers are technical detectives who employ the scientific method to form hypotheses and conclusions in order to discover all potential causes of fires and failures in every kind of setting involving electro-mechanical devices and components.


The Requirements


  • At least 7 years work experience of an engineering position with experience on electro-mechanical components and devices - - - this does not include education and/or an internship, not an position.
  • Minimum of a BSEE, BSET or BSME or BSMET
  • Must have a very strong electro-mechanical background
  • Strong understand of electrical codes background is ideal, but not required
  • Failure analysis or experience in a testing environment a plus
  • This will require travel within 2 hours of Dallas/Fort Worth

 

The Job


The engineer will work along with fire investigators in the field to conduct analysis to assist in determining the cause of fires. will be conducted on fire scenes in residential and commercial structures as well as on heavy equipment, automobiles and with individual electrical components, wiring in a lab setting, etc. Travel will be primarily within a 200 mile radius of DFW region, but rare travel to surrounding states could occur. This position works mainly out of the candidate’s home office.


Job entails performing forensic examination and technical detective work of a wide variety of electro-mechanical devices and components including but not limited to electrical panel boards, circuit breakers, building wiring, receptacles, switches, fans/lights, dryers, washing machines, , baseboard and space heaters, pumps/motors, controls, thermostats, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, power strips and surge protectors, computers, standby generators, photovoltaic arrays, switchgear, batteries of all types, etc.


Must also work with commercial equipment such as food service industry appliances, workshop devices, etc.

Training to become a certified x-ray technician.

Participate in arson investigations.

Utilize modern digital microscope and photography technology.

Utilize standard troubleshooting instruments such as and tone testers.

Write expert reports and fire scene/lab examination observations and summary.

Design and build test fixtures and perform testing in a laboratory environment.

Opportunity to interface with state and local fire marshals, origin and cause investigators, firefighters, subrogation attorneys, insurance adjusters, etc.

Candidates with an active PE and/or have been a volunteer firefighter are encouraged to apply.
