Harrison Gray Search has partnered with one of the oldest, most reputable investment advisors in the country to find its next Portfolio Analyst in Boston. This role involves supporting the construction and ongoing management of client portfolios and financial plans within a practice managing approximately $1bn AUM. Key responsibilities include security analysis, trading, client communications, and servicing existing relationships.


Role Description

The Portfolio Analyst will play a crucial and client-facing role, delivering top-quality services to high-net-worth clients and foundations. This role is vital in developing and maintaining client relationships and involves direct interaction with clients. The position offers opportunities for growth into direct portfolio management and leading individual client relationships.


This full-time position reports to the Branch Manager and gathers additional feedback from assigned Financial Professionals. Working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST. The role is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office per week.


Role Responsibilities

Client/Financial Professional Team Duties:

  • Monitor clients’ financial situations with detail and accuracy.
  • Develop and implement financial planning solutions and perform related research and analysis.
  • Support existing client base through portfolio management and individualized service models.
  • Build, maintain, and update client databases and financial plans.
  • Perform research for client portfolios using various software tools.
  • Prepare detailed portfolio reviews, security analysis, and presentations for client meetings.
  • Stay current with tax regulations and industry trends.
  • Understand clients’ risk tolerance and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain professional licensure and certifications.
  • Execute money moves, including trades, deposits, ACH, wires, withdrawals, and rollovers.
  • Maintain relationships with other business functions to ensure seamless operations (Compliance, Operations, IT, Strategic Initiatives, Training Center, etc.).
  • Adhere to compliance and firm policies, ensuring good standing with all FINRA/SEC rules and regulations.


Administrative:

  • Communicate directly with clients to service their account requests or concerns.
  • Maintain and organize client files, CRM notes, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Financial Professionals to discuss financial opportunities within portfolio reviews.
  • Assist Marketing with financial professional marketing strategies and initiatives.
  • Complete data entry for financial plans.
  • Pursue career growth through development opportunities.
  • Utilize DocuSign and DocuPace for form signature, distribution, and documentation.
  • Contribute to the upkeep and image of the company brand.
  • Submit monthly expense reports.
  • Provide administrative support to Financial Professionals and Branch Manager as needed.
  • Foster a positive team morale and contribute to team culture.


Key Measurements

  • Ability to integrate into the financial professional’s business and build client rapport.
  • Accurate completion of weekly/monthly research and financial planning reports.
  • Achievement of individual and branch annual goals.
  • Initiative in improving processes and finding solutions to streamline and expand the practice.


Minimum Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant experience in Financial Services.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63, 65 or 66.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Passion for financial markets.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning, portfolio management, and fiduciary investing concepts.
  • Prior experience with financial planning software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Ability to take initiative and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Competence in critical thinking, organization, attention to detail, communication, active listening, social perceptiveness, coordination, time management, reasoning, empathy, selective attention, and memorization.


Preferred Requirements

  • CFA, CFP Designation, or desire to pursue certification.
  • Experience with Advent, Addepar, Redtail, RBC, and MoneyGuidePro.
