Our client is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant who enjoys working as a member of a cross-functional team to solve problems and improve performance. This position will be a member of the finance team and will work with other parts of the organization and team members to maximize success. 


In this role, you will:


  • Support accounting activities for site manufacturing operations, maintaining accurate costs, inventories, internal controls, and processes.
  • Facilitate inventory-related activities with the Inventory Control team, including analysis, reporting, cycle count activities, and inventory adjustments, ensuring overall inventory accuracy.
  • Partner with production teams to ensure job costing processes are defined, documented, and implemented.
  • Review all jobs daily, ensuring they are transacted accurately and timely.
  • Review material, labor, and overhead cost and variance trends, researching significant variances and taking appropriate actions.
  • Establish, maintain, and analyze labor and overhead rates in line with operational budgets, and established production standards.
  • Partner with Engineering to analyze and update the Bill of Materials and Bill of Operations to ensure the ERP accurately reflects the current state.
  • Prepare and maintain standard adjusting journal entries with related support as relates to operational cost accounting and monthly inventory book to perpetual.
  • Assist with annual physical inventory observations across the enterprise.
  • Support ERP implementation efforts as sites deploy Epicor.
  • Partner cross-functionally to identify and implement process improvement projects and strategic initiatives for the enterprise.
  • Provide management with information vital to the decision‐making process.
  • Perform monthly inventory account reconciliations.


To succeed in this role, you have:


  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience within accounting/finance with experience in manufacturing cost accounting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Proficient use of financial systems and Microsoft Office tools, including proficiency in Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, with a bias towards collaboration and teamwork
  • Analytical skills and attention to detail
