JOB TITLE: Mine Operations Shift Supervisor
PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Mine Operations Supervisor helps manages a crew of approximately sixty plus equipment operators and all associated mining-related activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Proactively coordinates activities and resources in conjunction with other departments in order to comply with priorities and overall objectives of the mine plan.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
- Assists in managing and supervising a Mine Operations crew.
- Support and assist the Senior Supervisors in their work.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Train others.
- Participate in job planning.
- Participate in meetings and discussions.
- Be a role model to others in safe behavior.
- Be willing and enthusiastic.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years mine operations or construction experience preferably in an open pit mine environment or large earthmoving excavation environment.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
- A BS degree in Mine Engineering or other related technical field preferred. Equivalent years of related experience can substitute for the Engineering degree requirement.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Handle disciplinary action within the operations department.
- Is responsible for quality and quantity of work performed by subordinates.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Heavy: Exerting 50 to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly. Physical demand requirements are greater than that required for Light Work.
