Exploration Manager
The purpose of this role is to lead all exploration activities at the Company’s properties with focus on a project, efficiently managing all near-existing deposits and regional exploration team activities. This role will report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities include:
• Ensure that all administrative matters, including labor, safety, environmental and legal compliance is reported to the site or country management and country and company regulations are followed.
• Work closely with the Company’s SVP Exploration and Corporate Exploration team to develop and optimize exploration programs to effectively define and test as a near-mine and regional exploration targets and grow gold resources to extend the projected mine life.
• Assess the potential, define targets, propose, and manage programs at a project in Nevada.
• Contribute to and oversee target generation, assessment, and global project pipeline management.
• Design, assess, plan, and prioritize exploration targets at various stages to directly impact programs in real-time through active and proactive participation in exploration programs.
• Contribute to drill planning for resource discovery, growth, and drill program optimization.
• Sequencing of exploration activities including geochemical, geophysical, geological surveys, and drilling activities.
• Ensure optimal use of all data to advance quality geological interpretations and support exploration decision-making.
• Ensure QAQC programs and procedures are implemented on all exploration programs and surveys; QAQC data is reviewed, and any issues are identified and corrected.
• Perform and assist with geological and structural modeling.
• Assist mine operation with the integration of near-mine data with mine operations.
• Keep all stakeholders informed of work progress, issues, and results including the site General Manager and SVP exploration.
• Define team and individual exploration objectives to contribute to the global exploration and the Company’s objectives.
• Establish and structure a strong, balanced exploration team at the site by attracting, developing, and retaining key exploration team members.
• Assess, continue developing, and reinforcing the project's exploration team through mentorship and training opportunities.
• Ensure optimal and timely application process and permits (government/public/private land access, environmental, water) are in place to execute programs.
• Ensure relations with communities and all stakeholders are maintained and developed.
• Coordinate with site H&S to identify and correct any hazards that could lead to an accident or incident.
• Identify, review, assess, and highlight corporate development opportunities which may present growth opportunities for the Company.
Skills and Experience:
• Qualified person (Certified Professional Geologist with AIPG or Registered Member with SME) preferred. At least 5 years in Exploration Manager roles within the Mining Industry.
• Exploration experience in various regions of Nevada / Western United States.
• Ability to collaborate within a local leadership team and corporate team.
• Extensive practical experience planning and managing large exploration programs with multiple drill rigs and managing site-specific safety protocols and emergency response plans for drilling programs.
• 10 years of experience working with, overseeing, and managing exploration teams.
• 10 years of exploration experience for Carlin-type, epithermal gold-silver, and other types of deposits.
• Strong Leadership and Teamwork abilities.
• Range of practical experience from early (greenfields) to advanced exploration.
• Near-Mine and Regional Exploration experience.
• Good knowledge of QAQC principles including implementation and data assessment.
• Proficiency in using exploration and mining software.
• GIS and 3D modeling skills.
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and team-building skills.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders, walk over uneven ground over long distances and perform work in variable temperatures out of doors.
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
