The Mechanical Engineer will be an integral member of the Engineering Division.


The Mechanical Engineer will support the design and fabrication of equipment to support all construction projects. Design work will include planning, equipment design and manufacture, permanent facility design, and general problem-solving for all aspects and components of mine hoisting systems and the conveyances for personnel and materials. The Mechanical Engineering team is part of an in-house multi-disciplinary technical unit that supplies design, analysis, and consulting services for internal and external customers. In this role, the Mechanical Engineer will interact with peers, consultants, outside vendors, and clients, as appropriate.


As a Mechanical Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to:


• Design mechanical systems, structures, and components

• Assist with modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures, and components

• Provide technical support to various divisions

• Assist with mechanical plans and technical quotes for systems, structures, and components

• Ensure compliance with safety standards related to mechanical systems, structures, and components

• Assist in responding to site-based requests for information, including analysis and recommendations

• Prepare and present project documents including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports

• Travel to the site as needed


REQUIREMENTS:


• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution

• 3 or more years of work experience, preferably in a field related to machine design or maintenance

• Ability to become a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) within 2 years

• Experience with hydraulics, hoists, and/or pneumatic systems is desirable

• Demonstrated logical problem-solving skills, including conceptual and analytical skills

• Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor software and Finite Element Analysis software

• Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software

• Good verbal, written, and presentation skills
