Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Hydrogeological Superintendent, the Geologist will provide expertise in hydrogeological interpretation of well drilling program data, with a focus on internal and external reporting on the data and tracking performance.
  • The Geologist occupies a safety sensitive position and is responsible for managing and reporting wellfield data to internal customers and assisting with the reporting of well completion and testing data to external regulators.


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage incoming testing and completion data from the commercial wellfield, including data from contractors, and consultants.
  • Processing and presenting wellfield testing and completion data to internal and external customers.
  • Assist with external notifications and reporting to regulators, including data interpretation and figure preparation.
  • Assist with resource development planning, performance and well designs.
  • Assist with hydrogeological comparisons between areas or zones of the ore body, and other metrics such as geological log interpretation and formation contact determinations.
  • Lead efforts to optimize the overall geological interpretation of the Florence Copper deposit.
  • Maintenance of data management system for compliance related well reports, notifications, and other reports as required. 
  • Other duties as required.


Qualifications & Education:

  • Experience with geophysical logging, sampling, and analysis and is required.
  • Must be experienced with well construction, well and aquifer testing, and well rehabilitation.
  • Database/data logger experience is required.
  • Experience with mine water management modelling software, aquifer testing software, hydrogeological groundwater flow models, and data management systems is preferred.
  • General project management experience is preferred.
  • Some familiarity with aquifer related regulations is preferred.
  • Arc-GIS software and mapping experience is required.
  • Must be able to effectively manage time, set priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, technical report writing experience preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrology, or related field is required.

 

Work Environment:

  • This position will include some office work, but a significant amount will be performed in all-weather conditions outdoors.
  • This position will report to the site on a routine Monday through Friday schedule.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must work in compliance with the Company’s site safety program.
