Senior Environmental Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Environmental Coordinator is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner:
Job Duties
· Responsible for operation of environmental water treatment plants and related monitoring
· Conduct air, lands, water, and waste related compliance tasks per all State, local, and federal permit requirements.
· Compile and submit timely monitoring reports as required.
· Interpret and organize monitoring and inspection data as required by site permits and regulatory agencies.
· Schedule and conduct permit renewals and track regular intervals for all mine departments.
· Interact with both State and local government agencies regarding site environmental compliance as needed.
· Conduct site environmental compliance training at regular intervals for all mine departments.
· Participate in and/or lead environmental audits and inspections both on site and within the company.
· Participate in or lead environmental incident investigations and track their follow-up and remediation plans.
· Oversee and manage contractors and environmental consultants.
· Provide support and input to site management on environmental compliance and regulatory issues.
· Maintain organized filing system for environmental compliance and regulatory documents.
· Safely perform all assigned duties and comply with company and site-specific policies, standards, and procedures.
Physical Requirements
· Follow all procedures and safety measures to assure safe production
· Work in all conditions and environments, approximately 50% of job is outdoors
· Able to lift 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
· Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground daily
· Understanding of and ability to apply state and federal environmental law, including permitting, environmental policies and prevention policies.
· Working knowledge with various sampling techniques and reporting procedures for air, meteorology, water, wildlife, reclamation, re-vegetation, sediment/erosion control, remediation systems, waste management and mine closure.
· Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, prioritize tasks and work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an environmental/regulatory field such as Environmental engineering, Environmental Policy, or similar science – related degree strongly preferred.
o Over five years of direct experience as an environmental compliance professional in an industrial setting will also be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
· Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as an environmental compliance professional required, with demonstrated increase in responsibilities.
· Extensive sampling, monitoring and reporting experience.
· Strong preference for candidates with mining related background.
· Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements related to RCRA, MSHA, CWA, CAA, CERCLA, NPDES, TRI, and SARA Title III.
· Strong computer skills and experience with Excel, Word, Power Point, and mapping software.
· Experience conducting training on compliance related topics.
· Demonstrated ability to constructively interact with other employees, regulatory personnel, and members of the public.
· Knowledge of denitrification and Selenium plants preferred
· Attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
· An open, engaging, and problem-solving approach to technical issues and when working with multi-disciplined teams.
