Environmental, Health, & Safety Engineer

Our client is seeking an EHS Engineer to join their talented team of engineers and scientists developing next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The preferred candidate will have 5+ years of environmental, health, and safety experience in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.


Job Duties:

  • Manage environmental compliance and management system programs for two facilities in Colorado.
  • Support health and safety programs at both locations.
  • Identify and interpret environmental and safety regulations and provide compliance guidance.
  • Assist with preparation of government reports and permits/certifications.
  • Develop EHS Management systems (ISO 14001/ISO 45001), standards, and procedures.
  • Participate in and lead incident investigations.
  • Create and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Plan and respond to emergencies involving hazardous materials, fire, smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; prepare reports and submit recommendations.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Interface with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and insurance carrier representatives to ensure compliance.
  • Implement environmental solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes to reduce environmental impact.
  • Implement health and safety solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes to reduce health and safety risks.
  • Develop, collect, and analyze EHS metrics and reports.
  • Perform miscellaneous job‐related duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Professional certification such as CSP or CHMM is a plus.
  • ISO 14001 Internal Auditor (Lead Auditor preferred).
  • Rapid learner and self-motivated, thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure, handles conflict effectively, and demonstrates flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • 24-Hour HAZWOPER certified or willing to become certified.
  • Familiarity with EPA Regulations, OSHA General Industry Regulations, International Fire Code (IFC), and Process Safety Management (PSM) is a plus.
  • Serves as a change agent to drive cultural change in a quickly changing business environment, inspiring others to action through collaboration and influence.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, environmental health, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in an environmental engineering/coordinator function.
  • Manufacturing or chemical industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Colorado Environmental (CDPHE) regulations is a plus.
  • Solid and hazardous waste management for a large quantity generator.
  • Wastewater and stormwater management, permitting, and controls.
  • Air emission management, permitting, and controls.
  • ISO 14001/45001 implementation, certification, and maintenance (preferred).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear respirator protection.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Routine bending, walking, stooping, and kneeling.


Salary Range: $71,000 - $110,000 annually
