Senior HR Generalist

 

 

Description:

Must take a personal and active approach to health, safety and environment and understand and follow all state, federal and company health, safety and environmental requirements applicable to the work area and tasks assigned.

 

Summary of Position:

The SR HR Generalist is responsible for helping to create a high-performance work environment, through improved employee relations, leadership development, recruitment and selection, affirmative action, performance management, training and administration of HR policies and procedures. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

•       Assist site management with implementing human resources strategies to meet business objectives and results.

•       Implement HR Policies, procedures, strategies and programs to ensure operational consistency.

•       Advise and consult with the operation leaders on daily basis in all HR related matters.

•       Provide guidance and support to site and corporate managers on matters relating to employees as individuals and the management of the workforce in general.

•       Guide department management in performance and salary reviews.

•       Identify succession planning needs for the mine site.

•       Facilitate employee development.

•       Work with Senior Management in creating an understanding climate of expectation and enforcement of company policies, procedures and ethical practices.

•       Consult with management to facilitate initiatives that support employee performance, engagement and retention while maximizing organizational effectiveness.

•       Understands the Company's strategic and operating plans and workforce utilization requirements.


Necessary Qualifications:

•       Bachelor’s degree in HR, or a related field and a minimum of 5-10 years HR experience or any combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge to successfully perform the job is required.

•       Proven understanding of Human Resource procedures, principles and concepts including employee relations, training and development, performance management, recruiting and compensation and benefits.

•       Mining experience highly preferred; heavy construction or industrial could be considered.

•       Thorough working knowledge of applicable federal and state labor laws.

•       Demonstrated ability to manage, investigate, and resolve employee relations issues.

•       Experience managing the budgets.

•       Sound business acumen and well developed assessment, judgment and critical thinking abilities.

•       Strong conflict management skills to include resolution of complex employee relation issues.

•       Strong written and oral communication skills.

•       Strong customer service orientation.

•       Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and develop robust action plans.

•       Excellent presentation skills.

•       Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

•       Communicates a positive attitude and positive outlook, minimizing negative behaviors.

•       Strong negotiating skills and experience.

•       Employee development/coaching, objective setting, and measurement skills.


Leadership/Management:

•       Ability to build relationships and work well across functions.

•       Must be able to manage competing demands, accept criticism and constructive feedback, while being extremely adaptable and flexible.

•       Demonstrated ability to organize priorities in order to reach the goals and deliverables of assigned projects through analytical and problem-solving expertise.

•       Demonstrates competence in key areas of management and leadership expertise including: relationship management, communication, staff direction and motivation, financial planning and control, quality management, risk management, and the achievement of targets.
