WTR Search is looking for a Managing Director for a full MEP-FP consulting engineering firm focused on giving clients the highest quality in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Engineering solutions.


This position is the result of company growth and is REMOTE within the region of the company office. You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Atlanta, Georgia.


Summary of Qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in Mechanical HVAC Systems Design and/or Electrical Building Systems Design
  • 5 years of experience in business development and managing client relationships
  • 5 years of experience driving established project management practices to ensure project profitability
  • 5 years of experience developing and retaining a high-performance team


Summary of Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding specific revenue, profit goals, and company objectives within the assigned market
  • Define/refine operational KPIs that drive bottom-line growth and drive accountability of performance against metrics
  • Provide strategic input to the company leadership team
  • Collaborate with other Managing Directors, sharing knowledge, tools, and resources to cross-sell services and products
  • Work closely with the Director of Business Development, supporting direct sales efforts including proposal generation, closing new projects, contract negotiations, and developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Build and support a highly engaged and collaborative work environment, by recruiting & retaining qualified technical production and project management staff
  • Focus on ensuring technical excellence of project delivery and providing expert resolution of issues
  • Maintain clear communications with staff concerning operational practices, goals and objectives, performance, and enterprise awareness


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • 10+ years of experience in the MEP industry with a proven track record in both project management and design
  • 5 years of Project Management experience
  • 5 years of experience developing and managing high-performance teams and interacting positively with the entire workforce
  • Highly technical engineering skills with a deep understanding of the field combined with sound business and financial acumen
  • Proven ability to build strong client relationships, establish rapport, and gain an understanding of the client's unique challenges
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders and management at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to evaluate talent, identify needs, and hire technically proficient staff
  • Ability to create an enriched work environment, motivating teams to reach their highest potential
  • Superior written and verbal communication, project management, and the ability to adapt, multi-task, and manage multiple priorities
