Join our dynamic team as a Test Vehicle Technician II in the heart of automotive innovation in Auburn Hills, MI! Earn $25.00-26.81 an hour while taking your mechanical expertise to the next level.

As a Test Vehicle Technician Level 2, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring top-notch performance and quality for our pre-series test fleet within the VWGoA Quality Department.


What You'll Do:

NAR Quality Test Fleet Responsibilities (95%):

  • Execute updates, maintenance, and repairs on our cutting-edge test vehicles, including software and hardware enhancements.
  • Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, diagnose issues, and perform necessary repairs to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Keep our fleet in top shape with routine tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, and underbody checks.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by updating vehicles with the latest pre-series hardware and software.
  • Hit the road to test drive vehicles and verify successful repairs.
  • Dive deep into diagnostics and troubleshooting to resolve any operational challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with the Quality Validation Test Lead to ensure timely updates and repairs for seamless testing shifts.
  • Set up and install test measuring equipment to gather crucial data for analysis.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation, providing detailed reports on findings and actions taken.

Additional Responsibilities (5%):

  • Assist the Workshop Lead and Quality Validation Test Lead with daily tasks and retesting of fleet vehicles.

What You Bring:

Experience & Education:

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in automotive maintenance and repair.
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • A.S.E Certified.

Specialized Skills:

  • Mechanical prowess and adeptness with diagnostic software.
  • Proficiency in database maintenance and updates.

Desired Skills:

  • Fluency in German and Spanish.
  • Knowledge of VW/Audi products and systems.
  • Technical background in the automotive industry.
  • Familiarity with internal diagnostic tools of Volkswagen AG (VAG).

General Skills:

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and written.
  • Advanced computer proficiency, especially in MS Office.
  • Strong collaboration and initiative.
  • Detail-oriented with a knack for prioritization.
  • Organized, dependable, and safety-conscious.
  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
  • Comfortable using digital camera equipment for documentation.

Work Flexibility:

  • Physical ability to push non-drivable vehicles and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexible work schedule with occasional travel for business and training opportunities.
