The Data Warehouse Architect will be responsible for developing and changing BusinessObjects (XI R2) components as well as Informatica scripts to meet request of the business. This role will work as a member of a team of data warehouse professionals, under the direct leadership of the Data Warehouse Competency Center Team Lead. As the Data Warehouse Architect, the person will be expected to provide forward-thinking to the VWoA enterprise data warehouse and solidify this asset as one that provides high business value, flexibility, and usability for all business areas.



Functions Performed:


The following functions are the responsibility of the Data Warehouse Architect. This individual may be asked to solely perform these functions or may choose to delegate some of these functions to other member of their team, per agreement with the Data Warehouse Competency Center Team Lead. Ultimately, responsibility for ensuring that the functions are performed rests with this position.


General Functions/Responsibilities



• Develops and implements business intelligence tools or applications for accessing and analyzing data and meta data

• Works with System Admin group to manage, monitor performance usage and administer the analytic server and BI reporting tool

• Works with Data Stewards to develop business-oriented meta data definitions

• Works with data stewards and data warehouse architect to identify data quality issues and design processes and procedures to improve/maintain quality

• Develop test plans for new analytic applications and business performance dashboards and measurements

• Assist to develop and implement training program for users of the BI reporting tools

• Participate and/or lead in design sessions, demos and prototype sessions, testing and training workshops with business users and other IT associates

• Develop documentation and maintain as needed

• Provides business support for deployed BI applications

• Complete Service Requests (SR's) in the areas of universes, metrics, administrative tools, or dashboards

• Defines and implement the BI security model and work with security admin to ensure the model is being followed

• Supports business projects by providing SME knowledge to project teams in the areas of universe design and BO tool capabilities

• Assists to develop, implement and govern BI usage policies and procedures

• Responsible to ensure the BI environment remains optimal and efficient in terms of number of universes, reports, corporate repository usage, schedule usage, etc. Assists the operational teams in providing direction to keep these environments optimal

• Gather ETL requirements, estimate workload, technical design, build and test ETL solutions

• Optimize the ETL environment

• Establish Data Architecture to create BI, ETL Standards and Procedures



Unique Requirements:


General:


• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, consistently and meet deadlines

• Strong business/technical oral and written communication skills

• Experience creating metrics and dashboard analytics

• Strong working knowledge of different types of analysis tools, techniques and approaches (reporting, canned queries, decision support, data mining, etc.)

• Demonstrated analytical ability and creativity in developing and implementing plans and solutions for complex problems on medium size projects

• Strong SQL skills


BusinessObjects:


• 10+ years of report development using the Business Objects suite of reporting and developer products (XI R2 version preferred: Deski, Webi, Performance Manager, Dashboard Manager, Analytics, Predictive Analysis, Crystal Reports, Auditor, Designer, Live Office, Xcelcius)

• Strong experience in Business Objects Universe design and data modeling techniques

• Strong experience in Business Objects Web Intelligence report development

• Experience in Business Objects Crystal report development

• Use BO formulas and variables to create custom measures and calculations

• Experience on Sun Solaris Unix platform and Windows


Informatica:


• 10+ years of Data Warehouse environment

• Experience with ETL design – workflows, mappings, testing, etc.

• Ability to support and troubleshoot issues within Informatica

• Familiarity with Informatica Data Quality, Metadata Manager, Power Analyzer

• Experience with Oracle 10G database skills

• Familiarity with Informatica Administration

• Experience with TOAD or similar tool


Educational Requirements:


 Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent amount of work experience in business or IT consulting
