Electric Motor Technician (Entry Level) | Pontiac, MI

Contract: 12 months with possible extension/direct hire

Schedule: Train on 1st shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm), then transition to 2nd shift (3:00 pm - 10:30 pm) in August

Compensation: Competitive rate with optional benefits/paid time off

The Role:

We seek a self-motivated individual for the position of ENTRY LEVEL Prototype and Pre-Production Electric Motors Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for the construction of prototype and pre-production electric motors for product and process validation and development. Additionally, you will participate in BPD, GMS, and on-site training programs. What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in BPD (Business Plan Development)/GMS (Global Manufacturing System) processes to meet strategic plans.
  • Document and track all department deficiencies using various problem-solving techniques.
  • Build prototype and preproduction electric motors according to the build schedule.
  • Analyze motor defects and perform repairs as required.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to develop welding processes for new motor designs.
  • Modify and build simple fixtures and tooling.
  • Operate machine shop equipment and motor lab equipment (lathe, drill press, mill, robotic welder, wire forming machines).
  • Perform motor electrical tests following authorized procedures.
  • Maintain records of work performed, analyze collected data, and report results.


Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Hands-on mechanical experience
  • Associate degree or experience in mechanical or electrical activities
  • Prior experience in prototype builds
  • Knowledge and theory of electric motors
  • Manufacturing knowledge of electric motors
  • Familiarity with assembly build processes in manufacturing
